While everyone was busy enjoying the creamy, butterscotch cake, I ran to the living room where a large stack of presents awaited me. As I picked up the first one and was about to tear off its glossy wrap, my mom walked in and stopped me just in time. "Please wait for the others Sammy", she said with a disappointed look on her face. With a sigh, I went back and distracted myself with a large helping of cake.
A few hours passed by, and I tried to entertain myself by playing some video games with my cousins on my new Nintendo Switch console. It was a birthday gift I received last year and the best one yet. It gave me a vast choice of games to play whenever and wherever I wanted. It was one of my most prized possessions. That would change as soon as I got my new laptop. A new gaming laptop that is. Till now, I had been using a very, very old hand-me-down tablet from my older brother, John. It could barely support any apps at all. A laptop was a dream for a kid like me. A haven of technology, filled with video games, many apps and so much more.
"It's a horrible present", my mom said as I told my idea to her a few weeks ago.
"No way, all kids at school have it", I replied in disagreement.
"Which is why they get very low grades". I sighed and slightly shook my head in disappointment.
"It's also the reason I don't get good grades. Without a laptop, I can't learn anything at all. Besides, everything is online these days and a hand-me-down tablet won't suffice." A brilliant reply I had been working on for 2 whole weeks.
"How did you…? Anyways, I'll, umm, try to get you one for your upcoming birthday", a shocked mom replied.
"YA", I said with a whoop of joy. "Also, make it a gaming 3060 RTX laptop while you're at it".
