Sydney sounded unusually anxious, "Let me talk to WeiWei."
"She is unconscious but should wake up soon. They probably drugged her so she wouldn't cause a problem."
"What about Meng Po?"
"He escaped." Nikolai impatiently asked, "What do you want me to do with the girl?"
"I am getting the next flight to Kazan. You will need to take care of WeiWei until I arrive."
"I said I would rescue her, not fucking babysit." I want to hurry back to the cottage and see my little angel.
Sydney had a threatening tone as he reminded him, "Until WeiWei is safely with me, the deal isn't concluded."
Nikolai pursed his thin lips, he wanted to return to the cottage but couldn't bring WeiWei with him. "Fine. Contact me when you arrive in Kazan."
Unhappy he needed to stay with Gao WeiWei, Nikolai kicked a nearby crate to vent his anger. Suddenly he heard WeiWei scream and hurried over to the SUV and opened the door.
WeiWei was curled up in the corner of the backseat pointing at the dead man. She was shaking and her face was deathly pale. "Ahhhhh!"
Nikolai roughly yanked her out of the car and she looked up at him with a terrified expression. "Who are you?! Let go of me!"
He remained expressionless, "Would you rather stay in the car?"
"..." She gazed wide eyed at the dead man with a hole in the middle of his forehed and at her blood splattered dress.
He noticed her eyes darting around the warehouse. "Don't try to run, this place is dangerous. Sydney sent me to rescue you. There is no need to be afraid."
"Syd...Sydney sent you?" She glanced around the dimly lit room stacked with crates and whimpered, " I don't believe you! Where is he? WHERE IS SYDNEY!
"He will arrive tomorrow. He is still in Shanghai."
"What do you mean? Where is this place?"
"Kazan, Russia."
"Russia! Why would someone kidnap me and bring me here?"
"Enough questions. Someone will be here soon and I will take you to a villa to wait for Sydney."
She wrapped her arms around her ample chest and her teeth were chattering. "It is so cold."
Nikolai took off his black cashmere coat and threw it at her, he sounded annoyed, "Put it on."
WeiWei hesitated then put on the oversized coat. It had a light fragrance of pine mixed with a hint of tobacco that made her feel comfortable.
She gazed at Nikolai, did he kill the man in the car? He doesn't look like a killer...he is actually quite handsome...his dark eyes are like black ice and his domineering tone is so incredibly sexy.
Nikolai looked at his watch and said "I need to make a phone call. Sit on this chair and don't move."
WeiWei obediently sat down and nodded. She watched his back as he strode across the room. I don't know if I should believe him or not but what can I do? I need to find out who he is calling.
Nikolai walked to an office and entered, then called Anya. She was watching television in the living room at the cottage. "Nik, when are you going to be home?"
"Has Merri woke up at all?"
"No. Sister-In-Law is sleeping soundly. I brought some extra covers and put a couple on the bed."
"Good. Make sure you take good care of her. She doesn't like the cold, turn up the heat. I have an early business meeting so I won't be back until the afternoon."
Anya switched the channel, "Okay." Yeah!!! When she wakes up we can go shopping in town.
WeiWei was eavesdropping outside of the office. She was shocked by Nikolai's gentle voice, it contrasted greatly with the cold tone he used with her, Who is Merri?
She heard him walking towards the door and tripped as she hurried to the chair. Nikolai heard the noise and rushed out of the office. He grabbed WeiWei as she was about to fall. When she was steady he abruptly took his hand off her waist. "I told you to sit! The floor is littered with crates and trash."
WeiWei sat down and blushed as she rubbed her ankle. Her soft voice was full of grievances as she pouted, "I was scared and wanted to find you."
Nikolai ignored her and called Igor, "Where are you?"
"I am pulling up now."
The metal door opened and a short muscular man and Max strode into the warehouse. He noticed Nikolai's irritated expression then gave WeiWei a sympathetic look.
The two men walked over to the SUV and Igor handed him a set of keys, "The villa will be safe. It is registered under my wife's mother."
"Dump the body and the car."
"Max told me you brought a woman to the cottage? Won't she be upset if you don't return?"
Nikolai had a worried expression thinking about Merri. "It can't be helped. Sydney won't be here until tomorrow and the woman is my responsibility until he arrives."
Max couldn't resist teasing his taciturn cousin, "I want to meet this woman who could make you have this expression...haha..."
"Go. I deposited the money in your account."
Igor got into the driver's seat and backed the SUV out.
After the two men left Nikolai turned to WeiWei, "Let's go."
WeiWei limped over to him, "I seem to have sprained my ankle."
Nikolai raised an eyebrow and kept walking towards the metal door.
She puffed out her cheeks and tried to keep up with him. When they reached the car she frowned, "This is your car?"
"Get in."
WeiWei was angry at his cold and indifferent attitude, "Aren't you afraid if I tell Sydney how you treated me that you will be in trouble?"
"I saved you, that is enough."
She angrily buckled the seatbelt then looked out the window.
They were both silent as he drove to the villa. When they arrived he got out of the car and walked to the door. He looked back and she hadn't moved. He frowned and returned to the car."You can sleep in the car if you want."
She puffed out her cheeks and lied, "I really can't walk! My ankle hurts so bad!"
Nikolai frowned and unwillingly picked her up. He was tired and in a bad mood because he had to stay with her until Sydney picked up the annoying woman.
She had her head lowered and Nikolai couldn't see the satisfied smile on her face.I will wear you down...no one can resist me. In the car she decided she must make this heartless man kneel under her skirt.
Once inside he flipped a switch and the lights turned on revealing a luxurious living room. WeiWei's mouth opened wide, "Is this your home?"
"No."
An elderly man yawned as he approached them, "Sir said you would be coming. I arranged the room for you..."
Nikolai interrupted him, "Uncle Lou, we need two rooms."
He had a puzzled look staring at Nikolai holding the beautiful Chinese girl. "Oh."
Nikolai quickly placed WeiWei on the couch and left the room. He came back with a medicine chest, "Here."
She blinked her almond shaped brown eyes, "I have never taken care of an injury. Could you help me?"
He took out a bottle and a wrap, "It's easy. Rub this on your ankle then wrap this around."
She clutched her hands on her skirt, "Would it kill you to be nice to me!"
Nikolai was certain she was faking the injury and emotionlessly answered, "Miss Gao, your acting skills are lacking. It would be best if you didn't provoke me."
WeiWei clutched the medicine bottle in her hand as Nikolai turned to leave. "WAIT! I can't wear these clothes, they are covered in blood!"
"There should be women's clothes in the guest room. Anything else?"
WeiWei gazed at his cold expression, she shook her head, unable to think of a way to make him stay.
