The Brood Mother - I

'The flames won't hold.'

Leonhardt wasn't sure whether he could stop the impending attack, but he believed Asuka wouldn't disappoint him. It was a strange, baseless certainty.

That confidence adjusted Leonhardt's arrogant self-confidence. A naïve desire to try putting trust in her just once. And as he anticipated, Asuka stepped forward.

His flaming wall dithered and collapsed, along with Sylvie's.

The vibrant blue flames spread from Asuka's mouth immediately, billowing through the dark cavern, impeding the white spiders' preparing to pounce.

Holding his arm, pouring a steady flow of mana into his limbs, Leonhardt observed the situation for a moment. His once uncertain and tense eyes became focused with a sharp gaze. The lingering heat left by his flames, the charred remains of spiders, and the hissing spiders skittering across the floor.

And that wasn't all—his mind became clear, to the point he could see each spider's movements.
