"Talk to me, kid."
Daredevil's voice cut through the static in my head as I stood on the rooftop, staring blankly at the New York skyline. The whispers—those eerie, relentless voices—were still there, crawling under my skin like a bad itch I couldn't scratch.
I clenched my fists. "It's… it's this thing. The symbiote. I think it's messing with me."
Daredevil tilted his head, listening to my heartbeat. "You're scared."
"No," I snapped, then sighed. "Okay, maybe a little. This stuff, it's alive. It's trying to get inside my head. And I think… it's winning."
He nodded, stepping closer. "That's why we need to stop Osborn. Before he can unleash it on the city."
I nodded back, forcing a smirk. "Yeah. No pressure, right?"
Later that night, back at my apartment…
I sat on my bed, staring at my reflection in the cracked mirror. My face was pale, dark circles under my eyes. The whispers had gotten worse.
"We can be stronger… faster… unstoppable…"
I shook my head, muttering, "Shut up, shut up, shut up."
But a part of me… a dark, twisted part… wondered if it was right. If I let it in—if I embraced it—could I finally be strong enough to take down Osborn and the Sinister Six?
The thought scared me more than anything.
A knock on the door snapped me out of it.
"Peter? You okay?"
It was Aunt May. I quickly shoved the Oscorp file under my mattress. "Y-yeah! Just… school stuff."
She hesitated before speaking again. "I worry about you, you know. You've been different lately."
I swallowed hard. "I'm fine, Aunt May. Really."
Another lie.
The next day, Stark Tower.
Tony Stark leaned against his workbench, arms crossed. "Let me get this straight—you think this alien goo is trying to talk to you?"
"Yeah," I muttered, rubbing my temples. "And it's getting louder."
Tony sighed, running a hand through his hair. "That's not good, kid. Symbiotes have a nasty habit of sinking their claws into your psyche. You need to keep your distance."
I glanced at the reinforced container holding the symbiote sample. It pulsed, like it was waiting for me.
Tony studied me closely. "You have been keeping your distance, right?"
I hesitated. "Yeah… totally."
Another lie.
Tony didn't buy it but didn't press. Instead, he tapped a button on his console, pulling up a map of Oscorp's main lab.
"Alright, focus up, Spider-Boy. We hit Oscorp tonight. Full force. Me, you, and Daredevil. We get in, destroy their symbiote reserves, and get out. Sound good?"
I nodded. "Sounds good."
I wasn't sure if I was convincing him or myself.
That night, Oscorp Tower…
Daredevil, Tony, and I stood outside the facility, a storm brewing overhead.
"Alright, kid," Tony said, his suit locking into place with a mechanical hum. "You take point. Just… don't do anything stupid."
I swallowed hard. "Got it."
The plan was simple—sneak in, blow up the symbiote samples, and get out. But plans never go smoothly, do they?
We moved in silently, sticking to the shadows. Security was tight, but with Daredevil guiding us and my web-slinging stealth skills, we managed to slip past unnoticed.
I scanned the lab through the vents. Rows of containment units pulsed with inky black liquid. The symbiote army Osborn was preparing.
"This is it," I whispered. "Let's wreck his whole operation."
Tony nodded. "I'll set the charges. You keep watch."
I perched above, my spider-sense on high alert.
And then… it happened.
A familiar voice echoed through the lab. "Going somewhere, Spider-Man?"
I turned, and my stomach dropped.
Venom.
Not the sample. Not the contained substance. A full, living, snarling Venom stood in the entrance, grinning with jagged teeth.
"You… can't escape us," it hissed.
Tony cursed. "Damn it, I knew this would happen."
Venom lunged, and I barely dodged, firing webs to slow it down. They stuck for a second before the creature tore through them effortlessly.
Daredevil moved in, striking fast, but Venom's tendrils swatted him aside like he was nothing. Tony fired a repulsor blast, knocking it back for a moment.
I stood frozen. The whispers in my head were deafening now.
"Join us… embrace the power…"
My hands trembled. The symbiote was calling to me, and for a split second, I wanted it.
Tony's voice snapped me out of it. "Parker! Snap out of it!"
I shook my head and leaped into action, landing a solid kick on Venom's face. "Sorry, big guy! Not today!"
We fought, but Venom was relentless. Every attack we landed, it came back stronger, its monstrous form adapting.
"Karen," I gasped. "Weakness?"
"High-frequency sound waves and fire."
"Great, let's improvise!" I webbed a nearby industrial speaker and aimed it at Venom. "Hey Tony, little help?"
Tony grinned. "On it!"
A blast of sonic energy erupted, and Venom howled in agony, its form writhing and twisting. It stumbled back, tendrils flailing.
I shot a web at a gas pipe and yanked hard. A small spark ignited a burst of flames, and Venom screeched louder before retreating into the darkness.
"That's right! Run!" I shouted, trying to convince myself I wasn't terrified.
Daredevil was back on his feet, bruised but steady. "We need to finish this. Now."
Tony activated the charges, and we sprinted out just as the lab exploded behind us, sending a plume of fire into the night sky.
Back on the rooftops…
I sat down, my body trembling. The whispers had quieted, but I could still feel them.
Tony stood beside me. "You okay, kid?"
I exhaled shakily. "I… I think so."
Daredevil nodded. "Osborn won't stop. We need to stay ahead of him."
I stared at the burning remains of the lab and clenched my fists. "Yeah. No matter what."
Tony patted my shoulder. "Atta boy. Now go home, Parker. Get some sleep before you collapse."
I nodded, but deep down, I knew sleep wouldn't come easy.
Because part of me—just a tiny part—wondered what it would be like to embrace the darkness.
And that terrified me.
