Spiritual Network Transmission

It was dark at night, and Wang Yanfei found an abandoned warehouse. He entered cautiously after making sure that no one was following him. He closed the door, blocked the gaps that might be exposed with scattered items, and sat down after confirming that it was safe, and began to check the prosthesis that had just been installed.

The joints of the prosthesis still hurt a little, but compared with the injuries he had experienced, this pain was nothing. He raised his right arm and moved it slowly. The mechanical metal joints made a slight friction sound, and the movement was still flexible. He frowned slightly, put his ear close to the prosthesis, and listened carefully.

"Buzz... Buzz..."

Sure enough, there was an extremely subtle buzzing sound. Although it was almost imperceptible, it was extremely harsh in the silent environment. His eyes suddenly turned cold. The sound on the prosthesis was likely to be some hidden device, perhaps deliberately installed by the boss.

Wang Yanfei did not hesitate. He picked up a piece of broken metal from his side and pried open the outer shell of the prosthesis with skillful techniques. The internal circuits and parts were exposed under the dim light. He stared at these complex structures and examined them carefully.

Soon, he found three small devices, which were embedded in different circuits and were very cleverly hidden. Wang Yanfei took them off one by one and put them in his palm. After careful observation, he finally confirmed the function of these devices - locators.

"How cunning." He whispered to himself.

He crushed the locator, threw it on the ground, and crushed it with his feet to ensure that there were no remaining signals that could be tracked. After checking the inside of the prosthesis again and making sure there were no other redundant devices, he buckled the shell again.

In the early morning, the sun shone through the tattered curtains in the room, and Wang Yanfei woke up from a short rest. He subconsciously reached for the gun beside him, but just as he was about to sit up, he suddenly felt the muscles of his whole body stiffen and he couldn't move at all.

A woman's figure was standing in the middle of the room, her back to the sun, her face was covered by shadows, but her eyes were flashing blue light, which made people shudder inexplicably.

Wang Yanfei's body could not move, his mind was still clear. He quietly observed the woman in front of him. Seeing that she did not seem to be here to kill him, he waited for her to speak.

"It seems that Mercury is right. You do have some special abilities." The woman's voice was soft but not charming. She slowly approached Wang Yanfei with a faint smile on her lips.

"Mercury?" Wang Yanfei's eyes condensed slightly, and the man who claimed to be able to reassure him that night immediately appeared in his mind.

The woman seemed to see his doubts, waved her hand, and said casually: "He is just a middleman, and I am your contact person. Well, from the Psychic Church."

"The Psychic Church..." Wang Yanfei's voice was exploratory, but did not reveal any hostility or compromise.

The woman nodded, stood up straight, and continued: "To be honest, if it weren't for Mercury's strong recommendation, we wouldn't have taken the risk to make so many arrangements for you." Her tone revealed a bit of helplessness: "But to show our sincerity, I specially brought a passage from your sister. After reading it, you have to decide whether to leave Skyocean City with us and go to the wilderness."

Hearing the word "sister," Wang Yanfei's expression finally changed. It was as if something had struck his chest, causing even his breathing to pause momentarily.

The woman seemed satisfied with his reaction. She extended her hand, her fingertips flicking lightly. A small projection device floated into the air, and once activated, a familiar figure was projected midair.

The image of Wang Xiaonan appeared in the room. Her left prosthetic arm gleamed coldly under the sunlight, yet her expression was gentle. Her voice carried a trace of warmth and weariness, and the image quality was remarkably clear.

"Yanfei, if you're seeing this message, it means you've come into contact with the people from the Psionic Church," Wang Xiaonan's voice rang out. "I know you always like to shoulder everything alone, but this time, listen to your sister. Go with them. Skyocean City is no longer safe. This place has become a cage for you, while the wilderness might be where you find answers."

In the projection, she paused, lowered her head, and a complex emotion flickered in her eyes.

"I don't know who they truly are, but they've shown me glimpses of hope… And they promised to protect you. Yanfei, I know you never trust these things, but this time, I want you to believe me."

The image slowly faded, and the room returned to silence.

Wang Yanfei closed his eyes, calming the turbulence in his heart. While the message didn't provide much information, his sister's tone and expression brought a familiar sense of reassurance, prompting him to overlook some crucial details.

"Ready?" The woman's voice broke his thoughts. "We need to leave Skyocean City 204 immediately. It's too dangerous here, and the longer we stay, the worse it'll be for you."

Wang Yanfei contemplated briefly, then slowly opened his eyes. He glanced down at his right prosthetic arm before looking back up at the woman standing in the room.

"Alright, I'll go with you."

The woman smiled faintly, as if she had expected his decision. She snapped her fingers, the crisp sound echoing in the room. In the next moment, the air around them distorted with some unseen force. Deep blue beams of light descended from above, enveloping the entire room.

"Welcome aboard," she murmured.

The blue beams expanded outward, forming a grid-like network that shimmered with faint ripples, spreading outward like waves on water. The surrounding scenery began to blur as though the world itself was being torn apart.

Wang Yanfei felt an indescribable force surge through his body, his prosthetic arm creaking slightly. Moments later, a blinding flash of light erupted, and he felt a dizzying disorientation before losing all sense of his surroundings.

As the blue grid dissipated, hurried footsteps and mechanical buzzing echoed from afar. Several high-speed hover vehicles and armed guards swarmed the area. Armed with weapons, they moved swiftly into defensive formations, their eyes scanning the area with vigilance.

"Target has disappeared," one of the team members murmured, turning to report to the commander behind him.

The commander frowned, his gaze heavy as he observed the residual traces at the scene. "Psionics? Those lunatics..."

"Captain, we didn't catch up to them, but we detected residual signals. Should we continue the pursuit?" A technician, examining a device on their wrist, asked.

The commander shook his head firmly, his tone steely. "No. This is beyond our operational level. Secure the perimeter and submit a detailed report."

The guards moved swiftly, sealing off the area. By then, Wang Yanfei and the woman had already vanished without a trace from Skyocean City's grasp.
