"This…" Xylen done reading through this endless long list couldn't help but mutter to himself, his eyes glued to the impressive array of classes under the Demon Race.
His mouth hung open in astonishment, unable to close for a long while until finally:
"How… how is this class selection this absurdly good?" he finally mumbled in bewilderment.
Although Xylen didn't know much about the options available to other races, he was very certain that only a very few of them could boast such exceptional classes as the ones he had just seen.
'Why then is this race so despised and frowned upon by the others?' he wondered in perplexity, but the answer came to him almost immediately.
"What good are all these incredible abilities if no one wants to team up with you, every NPC refuses to give you missions, and every enemy is way more aggressive to you than people from the other race?" he muttered, shaking his head and the ache in his heart returned even more profoundly than before.
Despite his frustration, however, Xylen eventually heaved a deep, long sigh and scanned through the classes again.
Finally, he once again exhaled a deep breath and said, "I'll leave it to chance. Random selection."
The moon goddess nodded silently and proceeded with his choice. However, a new prompt suddenly appeared:
[[ Are you sure you want to select the Fallen Monarch? ]]
At first, Xylen failed to notice, but then he froze, his brows furrowing deeply.
"What is this… class? It clearly wasn't listed earlier, was it?" he muttered aloud, turning his gaze toward the moon goddess in utter bafflement.
What happened next, however, completely stupefied him.
"You…" Xylen pointed at Lunara, the moon goddess, whose eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets right now.
She looked as if she had just witnessed the most unexpected event in all of existence.
Realizing she was being watched, the moon goddess quickly regained her composure, though Xylen remained suspicious of what he had just seen.
Shaking his head and thinking he must have seen wrong, he pressed again, "What is the Fallen Monarch?"
Hearing him, the moon goddess seemed to falter, visibly unsettled.
A tremor passed through her form as she hesitated before speaking.
she started, nearly revealing something she wasn't supposed to, before stopping herself.
With this, she hurriedly tried to select the {{ No }} option, but then:
[[ Congratulations to the Player Xylenia. Your class has been selected: The Fallen Monarch… ]]
Xylen: "_"
The moon goddess: "_"
'How… how is this even possible?'
Her body trembled imperceptibly as her mind raced, then:
"This…"
Xylen was stunned, but before he could respond, his body began to fade out.
For a moment, he stared in a daze, unable to react. But just as the process neared completion, he suddenly remembered.
"What about the compensation you promised me?" he yelled, his voice somewhat heavily laced with anxiousness.
Hearing him, the moon goddess blinked, as if only now remembering, and quickly waved her hand.
In the next instant, a beam of light shot toward Xylen, vanishing along with him, but he failed to notice.
On the other hand;
The moment she was left alone, the moon goddess's expression finally shifted drastically.
"The Fallen Monarch?" she murmured anxiously. "This insane class of demons has gone extinct for millions of years. Why has it suddenly appeared today… in the body of a mortal from Earth at that?"
Her brows furrowed tightly as she sank into deep thought. Then, as if struck by a realization, her face grew pale.
"Could he be a genuine… descendant of that clan from the Demon?" she whispered, her heart racing.
"How is that even possible?"
"This must be why the demon race was forced upon him then. Only a royalty bloodline as powerful as that of the Fallen Monarch would refuse the humiliation of being subjugated by another race."
"But… how could he possibly be a descendant of that insane bloodline?"
Various thoughts and questions popped into the mind of the Lunar goddess, who was supposed to be an AI, an NPC and before long, a sense of urgency gripped her
"I must report this immediately," she muttered.
Without hesitation, the moon goddess and all her avatars attending to other players vanished simultaneously, leaving the players stunned.
Before they could react, however, their guides were replaced by another beautiful goddess, one of the moon goddess's subordinates.
This sudden transition, however, went unnoticed by Xylen, who had already left.
