The Power Within

Lyra's eyes were fixed on the shadows as they danced around her. She could feel the power coursing through her veins, a thrilling sensation that was both exhilarating and terrifying.

Kael's voice cut through the darkness. "You're a Shadowborn, Lyra," he said. "A being with the power to control the shadows."

Lyra's gaze snapped back to Kael. "What does that mean?" she asked.

Kael's eyes gleamed with excitement. "It means you have the power to manipulate darkness and light," he said. "To create shadowy illusions, to teleport through shadows, and to even create shadowy constructs to do your bidding."

Lyra's mind was reeling. This was too much to take in.

"But why didn't I know about this?" Lyra asked.

Kael's face was grim. "You were hidden away, Lyra," he said. "Your powers were suppressed, and you were raised as a human."

Lyra's eyes narrowed. "Who did this to me?" she asked.

Kael's eyes seemed to cloud over. "That's a story for another time," he said.

Lyra's gaze locked onto Kael's. She knew that she had to know the truth.

"Tell me," Lyra said, her voice firm.

Kael's face was grim. "Very well," he said. "But be warned, Lyra, the truth is not for the faint of heart."
