Chapter 105- The Plan

Mark's pov.

I sat back in the chair, the dim light from the casino made shadows across the table and floor.

Rhoda was sitting across from me, a smile playing on her lips that didn't even reach her eyes. I had been working with people like her long enough to know that everything about her was calculated, and that made her dangerous. But that didn't matter. We were in this together now, and the plan was in sight.

I lit another cigarette, watching the bank coil overhead, allowing them to go up with the wind as I refilled my glass.

Rhoda leaned forward, her fingers brushing the edge of her glass. She didn't feel like she was in a rush to speak, but the silence was thick with expectation. She always took her time, especially when she was savoring a plan she hadn't completely tasted yet.

She was the definition of a bad mother but who I am to tell her to be good?
