Chapter 2

Cynthia's location had always been kept secret. I was merely her fall guy. How could I possibly know her whereabouts?

"She's a grown woman with autonomy," I stated frankly. "I can't dictate her movements. I'm not her guardian!"

Dissatisfied with my response, Logan suddenly became aggressive.

He released my hair and struck me across the face, causing my head to spin.

I was seething with rage.

Yet simultaneously, I was anticipating his next move.

Was this minor issue the sole cause of his anger?

I was eagerly waiting for his fury to escalate further!

Noticing the defiance in my gaze, Logan tapped my cheek rhythmically and questioned, "Do you believe I'm powerless against you?"

As he spoke, he retrieved my mobile from my pocket, activated it, bypassed the lock, and searched through my contacts.

Upon finding my emergency contact, he smirked.

He dialed a number.

"Is something wrong, Jefferry?"

The gentle voice of Howard Frank, my betrothed, came through the line.

Just as I attempted to speak, one of the guards firmly covered my mouth, preventing any sound from escaping.

"You're Jefferry's fiancé, correct?"

Logan spoke with a cold, contemptuous tone.

"Who is this?"

Howard's voice was clearly anxious.

Logan faced me directly and said provocatively,

"I'm her former boyfriend. But don't fret. I'm married now and have no interest in her."

Howard paused briefly before asking, "Then why have you called me?"

"It's nothing serious. I just want to share some information about your fiancée."

"Her personal life was quite chaotic. She frequently saw other men behind my back."

"I found it repulsive, so I ended our relationship."

"I know you're engaged, but let me offer some advice. Jefferry is not an uncomplicated woman."

"For years, she's been dependent on my wife for survival. She coerced my wife into selling jewelry to purchase her a birthday present. She also had a gambling addiction and asked my wife to use my secondary card to clear her debts."

"Oh, perhaps you're unaware. Recently, she underwent an abortion at the hospital and requested my wife's company. I suspect the child wasn't yours?"

"Aren't you concerned about contracting an illness from such an immoral woman?"

Logan's words were laden with mockery and disdain towards me.

On the other end, Howard remained silent for an extended period.

My relationship with Howard had always been harmonious, and we were in the midst of wedding preparations.

He was principled and compassionate, treating me with gentleness and consideration.

Throughout our romance, regardless of our disagreements, he would always pacify me patiently and reason with me kindly.

However, this time, he seemed so incensed by Logan's words that he was rendered speechless.

Logan terminated the call and looked at me triumphantly.

"Well? Are you still reluctant to reveal Cynthia's location?"

The guard loosened his grip on my mouth.

"Spreading false information is against the law!"

I glared at Logan, wishing I could tear this fool apart!

Seeing my continued defiance, Logan grew angrier. "Illegal? I'll show you what the law really is!"

He issued a command to the other guards.

"Demolish her residence!"

Upon hearing this, the guards immediately began to wreck my home violently.

Within minutes, the once tidy room was reduced to rubble.

Not a single item remained intact.

Through clenched teeth, I asked, "Logan, aren't you concerned about legal consequences for such lawlessness?"

Logan sneered, his face filled with contempt.

"The law punishes women like you. Don't you realize how much money you've swindled from Cynthia over the years? Everything in your home was purchased with Cynthia's money. What's wrong with me destroying my own property?"

Logan spoke self-righteously.

It was as if he weren't committing a crime, but rather punishing a deserving individual.

I checked the time and realized there was less than half an hour left before Cynthia's miscarriage.

The spectacle was about to unfold.

I looked at Logan and said playfully, "Should we wait a bit longer? Your wife will be in touch soon."

Seeing that I remained unfazed, Logan angrily declared, "Why are you so obstinate? I'll destroy your reputation today!"

"Take her away!"

Several guards promptly dragged me to the community entrance.

This scene quickly drew the attention of nearby pedestrians.

As more onlookers gathered, Logan deliberately publicized my 'crimes' in public.

Suddenly, everyone around began to criticize me.

"That's excessive. Her friend is married and expecting, yet she still leeches off her like this. She's clearly causing harm! Fortunately, her friend is kind and has been tolerant all along. If it were me, I would have cut her off long ago!"

"She's a typical fake friend. Outwardly kind, but privately scheming. She's full of ill intentions and hopes for others' misfortune. My wife was deceived by her best friend and is now in debt. She's still taking medication for depression!"

"This type of woman is a parasite. As a child, she drained her family, then her friends, and her husband. Anyone who encounters her will be unlucky!"

"The worst part is that this woman is also promiscuous. She fools around daily. I don't like living in the same community as her."

Everyone cursed at me, believing I was a despicable person.

Logan looked at me disdainfully and taunted, "What do you think now? Do you still want to be stubborn?"

Logan thought he had beaten me and was waiting for me to yield.

I sneered and said contemptuously, "Is that all you've got? What's the point of cursing in such a small community? When the time comes, I'll move and nobody will remember me. I think you should call some internet celebrities to do a live broadcast about me. Only then can you truly ruin my reputation."

Logan's expression darkened. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Fine, I'll grant your wish!"

With that, he made another phone call.

I was anticipating it even more eagerly.

That was excellent.

The bigger, the better.

He'd better let the whole world know about the scandal of his family!
