Chapter 3

Tears fell shamelessly down my face as my heart seemed to make a decision. I took out my phone and deleted the man I had loved for three years, along with all memories related to him. It felt like a release as I let out a long sigh, but then I sank back into sadness.

I saw someone stop in front of me and looked up to find Sharon.

I snapped at him irritably, "Why is Sharon so leisurely? Didn't you leave? Why did you come back just to watch my show? Are you happy to see me in such a mess?" My words came out almost as a shout.

He didn't speak for a moment, then after a long silence, his hoarse voice sounded, "Come with me. Alec doesn't treat you well. Don't be sad for him."

He hugged me, and I stood there dumbfounded, motionless for a long time.

Sharon's embrace gave me a long-lost feeling of warmth, but his presence did not dispel the bitterness in my heart.

I pushed him away forcefully, holding back my tears. "Just go. I don't want to have anything to do with you Winters family anymore."

My stubborn gaze held a sense of finality.Sharon looked at me with a complex expression in his eyes.

"Melody, I know you're hurting right now, but life goes on. You need a place to clear your head. Come with me. It's better than staying here and being miserable. I'll help you sort out your current problems."

"Sort out problems? What can you possibly solve?" I retorted scornfully.

"At the very least, I can help you fight for what you're entitled to. You two... were engaged after all. He should face appropriate consequences for this. As for that intern and Alec's situation, I'll handle it." Sharon's words were firm and powerful, like a beam of light piercing through the gloom in my heart.

This time, I didn't hesitate. I got into his car. The scenery outside the window flew by, but inside the car, there was a heavy, oppressive silence.

Neither of us spoke. I stared out the window, uncertain about what the future held.

Sharon brought me to a quiet lakeside villa.

It was far from the city's hustle and bustle, as if it could help one temporarily forget their sorrows.

Looking at the house before me, I said to Sharon, "Thank you, and I'm sorry for my bad attitude earlier when I was falling apart."

He shook his head, completely unbothered, and urged me to go inside and take a look.

I saw that the layout and decorations inside were all to my liking. He still remembered, after all.I remember always talking about how I wanted to decorate our home in the future, but I never got around to it. Even the house where Alec and I got engaged had dull, lifeless colors. The house in front of me now is painted in my favorite sky blue.

I couldn't hold back anymore and started crying. Sharon held me, comforting me, and this time I didn't push him away.

Yesterday's news leaked out, and my colleagues at work were all gossiping: "I heard Melody caught that intern in bed with the CEO at home."

"Alec is such a jerk. He's engaged and still does this."

"And Melody chased after him for so long. He's inhuman. Even if his heart was made of ice, it should have melted by now."

The intern couldn't hold her head up at work. She hid in Alec's office every day, crying about how everyone was calling her a homewrecker who came between a couple.

She didn't notice the impatience in the face of the man in front of her as she kept talking.

Alec looked at the woman before him, feeling irritated, and didn't respond to her words.

Seeing that Alec hadn't spoken for a while, Vivienne knew it wasn't the right time to anger him.She pinched herself to make tears flow, then turned to Alec with a pitiful look, saying, "They said I'm fine, but when I heard them talking about you, I just couldn't stand it."

Alec ruffled Vivienne's hair to calm her down, but he didn't intervene in the matter, letting them continue their talk.

The incident had no further consequences. Seeing that Alec didn't stop them, they assumed his interest in the intern was just a passing fancy. They kept teasing her, and Daisy frequently complained to Alec about it, but he didn't address the issue, allowing it to fester.

A few days later, at the company's annual meeting, Alec faced all the shareholders with a grim expression. No one had expected him to pull this stunt.

Sharon strode coldly to the front of the stage, clutching a document in his hand. His words rang out loud and clear: "Ladies and gentlemen, regarding the recent rumors about Alec's private life negatively affecting the company, I have already begun investigating and taking measures. Additionally, as Melody is my friend, her interests will be fully protected."
