Asher thoughtfully brought over a glass of water, waiting for me to drink it before saying, "What's going on between you two isn't just because of Meadow, is it?"

Though he was asking me, I could tell from his tone that he was pretty certain.

I didn't plan on hiding anything from him, so I told him everything that had happened, down to the last detail.

Asher furrowed his brow, deep in thought for a long while. "You can't really judge anything based on just one bead from a bracelet."

I stared at the shallow water in my glass and spoke up. "That bracelet was designed by Levi's mentor for a design competition. There were only two made. One was bought by Meadow's husband at an auction."

"And the other," I closed my eyes, "Levi begged his mentor to let him buy it. He spent all his savings to get it for me."
