Dawn had just broken as I checked out of the hotel and headed straight home.
As expected, Meadow hadn't left.
She was fully dressed, sitting primly on the sofa waiting for me to return.
"Vivienne, you left angrily last night, and Levi got drunk again, so I had to take him home and look after him."
She finished with a coy smile, looking down.
I couldn't be bothered with her act and went straight to showing her the door.
"I heard your rich husband just left this morning to relax on a yacht with a bunch of models. Shouldn't you be keeping a close eye on that?"
Hearing this, Meadow forgot all about Levi, grabbed her bag, and left.
"Was that intentional?"
The cold words rang out behind me. I turned to see Levi staring at me icily, holding a glass of water.
Sleepless all night, my face was deathly pale, and my words came out like an emotionless robot.
I had no desire to argue and got straight to the point.
"Levi, I've found a crucial lead in my mother's murder from back then."
