Chapter 2

By the time I arrived, my old classmates sensed that the thing didn't go well and were clamoring to leave.

In an instant, the spacious private room was left with just me, Levi, Meadow, and a pile of smashed metal on the floor.

Seeing my life's work reduced to nothing, the same helplessness I felt five years ago when Mom suddenly passed away washed over me again. Tears started flowing uncontrollably.

Meadow, hiding behind Levi, said timidly, "Levi, don't you think we went too far? Vivienne seems really upset."

Levi gently patted her hand to comfort her. "It's fine, it's just a piece of junk robot."

Hearing this, I felt a surge of pent-up frustration. My voice came out hoarse as I shouted back, "What do you mean 'junk robot'? That was my mother!"

Levi's expression turned cold.

He strode up to me, frowning as he looked down on me, "Wipe those tears away. You look pathetic crying over a heap of scrap metal."

"Besides, even if it really was your mom, she scared Meadow today. She owes Meadow an apology!"

Meadow tugged gently at his arm. "I'm okay, Levi. Vivienne's mom was such a wonderful person when she was alive. It's understandable that Vivienne can't let go." "But you're her husband! It's alright for her to treat me badly, but why is she yelling at you?"

She casually flashed the diamond bracelet on her wrist, its sparkle stinging my eyes.

I have an identical diamond bracelet. Right after Meadow received this pricey gift from her wealthy husband, Levi bought me the exact same one.

At first, I thought Levi was just trying to make me happy. When I learned the truth, I even had a fight with him about it.

I knew he still couldn't let go of Meadow, and was comforting himself by giving me the same gift.

Thinking of this, I frowned and shot her a glare. "I'm a year younger than you. I can't accept you calling me 'sis'."

Meadow was taken aback, a flash of darkness crossing her eyes.

Levi's expression grew increasingly sour. "What are you making a fuss about? We can make as many robots as we want. Can't I, Levi, afford it?"

I was shaking with anger, barely able to squeeze out a complete sentence.

"You don't understand anything! This robot can't be replicated anymore!"

I was telling the truth. The requirements for making humanoid robots are extremely high. I had to search the entire world to gather the rare materials and components, some of which are no longer in production. The world will never produce another bionic robot like this one.

Levi pulled a checkbook from his pocket, hastily signed it, and tossed it at me.

"What's so hard about making a robot? Here's your money, stop playing the victim!"

I stared expressionlessly at this man who was legally my husband.

There was a time when we shared sweet moments. When my mother passed away, I cried myself to exhaustion at her memorial. He held me tight, his words warm enough to melt my heart as they fell from above.

"Vivienne, from today on, I'm your only family. I'll always be good to you."

Looking at the couple before me who seemed more like true spouses, I said coldly, "I heard Meadow married into a wealthy family a few years ago. Is it really appropriate for you to be out in the middle of the night, hugging and cuddling my husband?"

Levi eagerly interrupted me.

"Vivienne, are you deliberately outraging Meadow's susceptibilities? If you have any complaints, take them out on me."

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I fought hard not to let them fall.

"Who's really making things difficult for whom? Levi, do you even remember that I'm your wife?" Levi gave me a cold look. "Vivienne, since we're laying it all out there, let me ask you this: from the moment I married you, have you ever truly seen me as your husband?"

"It's been five years, and every day you've been tinkering with this damn robot. Have you ever cared about me, thought about me?"

"Even if you make the robot look perfectly real, what's the point? Your mom is gone, Vivienne. She's not coming back..."

At this point, Levi's voice seemed to catch in his throat.

Seeing my blank stare, he simply brushed past me, took Meadow's hand, and headed for the door.
