Chapter 5

In that moment, I saw the hesitation in Vivienne's eyes.

Of course, when she decided to conceal the cause of my death and stand with Nash, she must have already resolved to give up on me.

This wedding ring would likely end up in the trash can.

But to my surprise, after a moment's hesitation, Vivienne still accepted the ring box.

She muttered a quick thanks, as if burned, and hastily tossed the ring box into her purse.

Nash was waiting for her in the car, with the newly acquired trophy in the back.

"They didn't find out anything, did they?"

As soon as she got in the car, Nash bombarded Vivienne with questions, terrified that their secret might have been exposed.

Vivienne seemed a bit distracted, recounting the conversation from the interrogation room amidst Nash's persistent inquiries.

After hearing it all, Nash let out a long sigh of relief.

He pulled out a bouquet of red roses from beside him and presented it to Vivienne.
