"I seriously doubt there's a mother out there who would send her daughter off with two mercenaries and trust them completely," V sneered.

"The mother and daughter are being way too deliberate about this."

Seeing how perceptive V was, Alex Carter couldn't help but admire a woman's intuition.

When it came to counter-surveillance and spotting deception, V might even be on par with him.

If anything, it was Lisa Han and Liana Forrest who needed to brush up on their acting skills.

After thinking for a moment, Alex said, "I don't know what Kang Tao's endgame is yet, so let's just observe for now."

"If we expose them too soon, we'll risk damaging our relationship with them. Plus, if we don't figure out their real objective, we'll be too passive."

V nodded. "I was thinking the same thing. Let's just take it one step at a time."

"Alright. Let's also try not to be apart these next few days. Otherwise, I won't feel at ease." Alex urged.

V smirked and flashed him a playful, mischievous smile.

"Then you'll just have to suffer through this time as punishment for running off and playing around."

Alex rolled his eyes.

But before he could return to his seat, he caught her off guard and planted a quick kiss on her cheek, making V flustered and blush furiously.

---

Meanwhile, inside the bathroom, Liana Forrest took out her cosmetics, applied powder, and touched up her lipstick—everything appearing perfectly normal.

But as she did, she also transmitted an encrypted report to her mother through a secure channel.

---

"Mom, there's something off about this guy. He's definitely hiding something."

A few moments later, Lisa Han's text reply appeared on the screen.

"Stay put for now. Try to find out more about him and his abilities. Remember—don't push too hard. Your safety comes first. If anything happens, contact the extraction team—they're on standby at the neighboring villa."

"Understood."

---

At the same time, as Alex was discussing countermeasures with V, a communication alert rang in his head.

It was Shockwave—his AI assistant.

"Master, I intercepted an encrypted communication from inside the villa."

"Here's the full message…"

As Alex read through the exchange between Liana and Lisa Han, as well as the biometric scan data they had gathered on him, he smirked.

"Well, well… looks like they're after my body's secrets."

This meant one thing—he wasn't in immediate danger.

If Kang Tao truly had hostile intentions, they wouldn't be wasting time sending their executive's daughter as an undercover agent.

By now, they'd have already stormed the place with an assault squad.

---

Still, Lisa Han's genes must be something else.

How old was Liana, anyway? Early twenties?

And she was already a lead researcher in Kang Tao's biotechnology division?

No wonder she acted so... offbeat.

Was she just too smart for her own good?

---

After discussing everything with V, their initial tension eased.

Now, the focus was on how to make Liana give up on her mission.

A while later, Liana cheerfully walked out of the bathroom, completely unaware that her supposedly secure Kang Tao encryption had been cracked within minutes by Shockwave—the best radio hacker in Night City.

Now, Alex and V knew exactly what she was up to.

---

Meanwhile, at Kang Tao's North America Headquarters, Lisa Han was on a video call with a high-ranking executive—Dr. Xavier Simms.

Lisa forwarded Liana's report.

"Dr. Simms, this is the data my daughter just sent back. Take a look."

Dr. Simms, upon receiving the file, initially remained composed.

But the more he analyzed the biometric scans, the more astonished he became.

"This… this can't be right."

He leaned forward, eyes widening.

"These aren't normal human readings."

Lisa Han nodded.

"I believe he must be connected to some classified biotech or cybernetic enhancement program—possibly an underground organization with far more advanced technology than we've seen."
