Selene~
My breath almost hitched as I stared into her eyes.
There was something haunting about the way she looked at me.
Like a woman who had seen too much, lost too much, and now had nothing left to give.
Lilith exhaled a slow breath as her fingers curled, fisting the blanket in her fist.
A shadow flickered across her crimson eyes, and for a brief moment, I saw something.
Something that resembled hesitation.
Her silence stretched too long for my liking.
Mira tensed beside me, her arms crossed tightly as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other.
"Well?" she pressed, voice laced with suspicion. "If you knew, why didn't you do anything?"
Lilith's gaze flickered to Mira before settling on me again.
"I couldn't," she finally admitted, her voice quieter than before.
I frowned at her statement.
"Couldn't? What do you mean?" I asked back as the lines of my forehead deepened.
