The Final Countdown

The clock was ticking.

With only a day left before the second scenario began, Ryo's thoughts raced.

The group had stocked up on as much food and water as they could find, but time was not on their side. The countdown hovered in their minds—an unspoken reminder that something was coming.

They couldn't afford to waste time searching for supplies any longer.

As they ventured deeper into the ruined city, the air grew colder, the ominous silence almost suffocating.

Ryo scanned the area. His new Danger Sense skill tingled, signaling an approaching danger.

"Stay alert." His voice was low but firm.

Haruto, still testing his bow, nodded but didn't speak. Shiori kept close, her dagger ready.

And Kael—he was silent, his usual calmness almost unnerving.

Ryo's hand tightened around the hilt of his sword. His instincts were on high alert.

They turned a corner, only to be met with a screeching roar that sent a wave of fear through Ryo's chest.

A massive, four-legged beast lunged toward them from the shadows—its jagged teeth glowing in the dim light. It was a Mutant Wyvern, its wings torn, its scales dark and corrupted.

"Watch out!" Kael shouted, leaping to intercept it.

But Ryo was already moving.

With a swift motion, he drew his sword from the system inventory, activating the Reinforcement skill. His blade gleamed with new strength as he rushed forward, striking with precision.

SWING!

The sword slashed through the Wyvern's side, leaving a deep gash. The creature screeched in pain, but its venomous tail whipped around, aiming for Ryo.

Ryo sidestepped just in time, his Danger Sense warning him of the incoming strike.

Kael was already there. He swung his blade with flawless technique, cutting off the creature's tail.

"Good teamwork," Ryo muttered under his breath.

Shiori and Haruto fired their weapons—Shiori throwing her dagger with deadly accuracy, while Haruto loosed an arrow that found its mark in the Wyvern's eye.

The creature staggered, blood spilling from the wound.

With one final, coordinated strike from Ryo and Kael, the Mutant Wyvern crumpled to the ground. Its massive body lay still, blood pooling around it.

Ding!

Ryo took a deep breath, his body trembling with adrenaline.

They had survived.

But that was only one monster.

The second scenario would be far worse.

With the battle over, the group took a moment to catch their breath.

Haruto slumped against a nearby wall, wiping sweat from his forehead. "That thing was insane. What are we gonna do when the real challenge starts?"

Shiori glanced around nervously. "We'll have to be smarter. Ryo, Kael—you're both strong, but we need to work together if we want to survive the next scenario."

Ryo looked at Kael, who was inspecting his sword.

The trust was still shaky, but it was there.

He was starting to believe in the group.

"We'll manage," Ryo said.

Kael's gaze flickered up to him. "We'll need more than just swords and arrows to survive what's coming."

Ryo nodded. That was true

As the group rested, Ryo couldn't shake the feeling that time was slipping away.

The second scenario was less than a few hours away.

He glanced up at the sky. The air felt thick, as if something—dangerous—was about to descend on them.

Ryo swallowed hard.

He wasn't sure if they were ready, but there was no turning back now.

The countdown had reached its final minutes.
