When Ash saw the man, he was startled and feared being recognized. However, he quickly recalled the explanation given about the coat the king had provided him before he left the castle. And realized that the black coat was indeed a magic item with multiple functions. It could act as a storage space, allowing him to store items, change the wearer's appearance according to their preference, and conceal their face.Since Ash was a prince, this was crucial for him. The coat altered his facial features and height, making him appear like someone in their early twenties, effectively disguising him.
He looked at the man. "I was just wondering why I haven't seen any other races. Is the king really as dumb as I thought, or is he allowing slavery in his own capital?" These thoughts ran through his mind as he observed the bulky man standing in front of him.
To avoid looking suspicious, Ash gave the man a slight nod, though his face remained hidden beneath the coat. Seeing Ash nod, the man was delighted. "Today, I've caught a big fish," he thought to himself, already calculating the money he was about to make.
However, what ash didn't know was that slavery was a normal part of this world. As they continued walking, they arrived at a large warehouse, in front of which sat several stunningly beautiful elves.
"Whoa... are those real elves?" Ash thought to himself, astonished by their beauty.
As they entered the front of the warehouse, Ash passed by the elves, observing the filthy clothes they wore and the chains tightly bound around their necks and wrists. He felt bad for them as he passed by. As they moved further inside, Ash saw other races sitting within the warehouse, chained just like the elves outside.
"What if i fight this guy and free these poor fellows," he thought to himself. But then, the king's words echoed in his mind:
"Try to avoid getting into unnecessary trouble, and remember how weak you are!!."
It was true—Ash didn't even know how to fight. He was merely forcing himself to adapt to this new world and his new identity as a prince.
"Here, take it, and don't come back for more!!" someone barked. The man who had brought Ash here was handed money. As his job was to bring wealthy clients to this place every day in exchange for payment.
"So, you must be our new client. I can feel it—we're going to be good partnership," the man said, clasping his hands together as he approached Ash.
The man who had escorted Ash took his money and left without another word.
Ash stood there, his gaze scanning the slaves being sold. He felt a deep sadness as he looked at their faces. None of them showed any sign of acceptance; they all kept their heads down, their eyes filled only with depression and powerless.
Ash lowered his gaze, ignoring the owner of the place, and turned toward the exit, intending to leave.
But then—
Ding!!
A system notification startled him.
-System-
Detected legendary-tier blood.
Host, I advise you to go underground. I have detected an S-rank legendary-tier blood.
Ash froze. This was the first time the system had actively spoken to him. He was both surprised and intrigued, he turned back his head and looked the owner.
"I want to see the finest slave you have," Ash said, his voice shifting into a deeper, more mature tone thanks to the coat's effects.
"Oh, of course, my dear sir!!" the owner responded eagerly, leading Ash toward a staircase that descended underground.
As they walked down, Ash saw rows of chained slaves. But what truly shocked him was the difference between these and the ones above.
These slaves were far more dangerous.
Their eyes burned with rage, their expressions filled with a thirst for violence. Some were snarling, shouting about slaughtering all humans if they ever got free. Others sat in eerie silence, but the aura emanating from them was terrifying.
Unlike the ones above, who were bound with simple chains, these slaves were locked in a prison-like structure, their restraints far more complex and secure.
"Sir, if we go deeper than this, it might cause you trouble, and I can't protect you, so..." the man said, his voice trembling with fear. He usually had guards accompany him, but today, he had made excuses that they were occupied elsewhere. However, Ash had no intention of stopping. The reason he had come this far was to see what the system had mentioned, and he wouldn't turn back now.
"I'm more than enough on my own. There's nothing to worry about," Ash said.
His voice carried an overwhelming presence—one that could make an ally feel relief and a foe tremble in fear. It was deep, commanding, and reverberated with power.
The man broke into a cold sweat. Without further argument, he handed Ash the key, stepping back before cautioning him. "If you find the slave you want, take them and come back up."
Then, without waiting for a response, he turned around and hurried away.
"What could make the very owner of the place feel scared" Ash muttered to himself, feeling uneasy.
Since no one was around, he dropped his act and returned to his usual self. As he walked past many slaves, including Wolfkins and mixed-blood Elves, Ash eventually reached the section for beasts. Various creatures were kept there, some easily recognizable—lions, tigers, and even foxes.
"System, I'm already deep underground. Where is the S-rank legendary blood type you mentioned?" he asked while scanning the slaves with his eyes.
-System-
Host, you passed the target just a moment ago.
The system's response made Ash freeze for a second, his eyes widening slightly. "Hee! Why didn't you tell me earlier!!" Ash growled in frustration, feeling like he had just wasted his time. He turned back and retraced his steps, passing by two slaves before stopping, waiting for the system's next response.
-System-
To your left.
Hearing that, Ash clicked his tongue. He was about to snap at the system when he realized something. "You could've told me this earlier, but you just wanted to mess with me, didn't you?" He sighed, accepting the system's annoying attitude, then turned left as instructed.
"System, are you joking with me?!" He said
What lay before him wasn't some mighty beast or terrifying monster.
It was a tiny fox.
The so-called S-rank legendary blood type was nothing more than a small, fragile fox that looked like a helpless child. What made it worse was its condition—it was completely dried out, its body frail and weak, as if it hadn't eaten for days. The poor thing just lay there lifelessly, looking as if it could die at any moment.
But it was the sad truth if the system is telling him.
"System, use Appraisal on it," he ordered, just to be sure.
-Appraisal Skill Activated-
Ding!
[Name: Unnamed]
[Age: 2 years old]
[Race: legendary Fox of 10 Wings]
[Class: Flying]
[Talent: Dominance of Mind]
[Skills: Memory Sight, Memory Manipulation, Jump...]
Ash's eyes widened in shock.
This small, dying creature… was a legendary beast.
"System, what is the origin of this fox?" he quickly asked.
-System-
This beast is a legendary 10-winged fox from the higher…
The system suddenly stopped speaking.
Ash's expression darkened.
"Why did you stop?" he asked again, feeling that something was off.
Then, the system spoke again.
-System-
…Wait. Oh, hello there, my Ha-Joon.
This is your author speaking.
Well, why am I talking through the system? Not your business, if you know too much at the start wouldn't it ruin the fun?
Although you won't remember any of these words, just smile and forget that you ever asked about the fox's origin, ~bye~.
A moment later, Ash felt something in his mind shift.
And then… he forgot.
All he knew was that he had just asked the system something important, but he couldn't recall what the answer was.
"System, tell me the origin of this fox!!" he demanded again.
-System-
This beast is a legendary 10-winged fox. It is an extremely rare species, appearing only once every century.
After getting his answer, Ash thought to himself, "If i buy this guy, wouldn't i fly?, flying through the skies on a fox?"
The idea excited him. He imagined himself soaring through the air on the fox's back, enjoying the freedom of the skies.
Without hesitation, he unlocked the cage, carefully picked up the small fox, and carried it out of the underground prison.
The moment the owner of the place saw Ash emerging, he quickly ran toward him, leaving behind the people he had been talking to.
"What did you take, sir? Did you find something good?" the man asked, glancing around suspiciously as if checking whether Ash had smuggled something valuable.
"Yeah, just this little thing," Ash replied casually, pulling back his coat to reveal the small fox curled up in his arms, its eyes still shut.
The owner blinked in surprise. His eyebrows furrowed as he lowered his gaze, looking down at the fox as if he had misheard something.
"Only this?" he said, his tone shifting. Gone was the friendly, eager salesman—his voice now sounded dry and irritated.
"Just pay 20 gold coins and scram. You almost wasted my time," he added, waving Ash off with a dismissive hand as he turned away.
Ash, on the other hand, was stunned.
"Only 20 gold coins?" he muttered, his mouth twisting into a grin—one that made him look like a man who had just escaped certain death. "I thought I'd have to spend at least 1,000—if not 2,000! Talk about luck!" he laughed to himself.
Without hesitation, he slipped his hand into his coat, discreetly accessing his storage space, ensuring that no one could see what he was doing. Then, he pulled out the 20 gold coins and handed them over.
-System-
Ding!!
Detected Legendary Tier - S-Rank Blood.
The moment Ash saw the system notification, he instinctively started scanning his surroundings, trying to locate the source of what the system had detected.
Meanwhile, the shop owner, now done with Ash, turned back to the other customers he had been dealing with before.
"Get lost, you lot! Stop wasting my time!" he snapped at them. "Why do I always get these penniless fools thinking i would buy anything? They find random junk somewhere and expect me to give them something in return. Tsk!"
Ash turned his attention toward the commotion, glancing at the shop owner with mild curiosity. His gaze then shifted to the two men standing near the entrance.
In their hands, they were holding something—an object that, to Ash, closely resembled a snake's egg due to its earthy coloration.
However, this wasn't his concern. He had more important matters to attend to. Ignoring them, he went back to what he was doing, waiting patiently for the system to provide further details.
Yet, after several seconds, there was nothing. "Before when I didn't even asked you, you were the one telling me and now you're silent?, whatever just tell me where you detected the blood" he said, he wasn't even frustrated now, just disappointed.
-System-
It's the egg that you saw before, host.
As soon as Ash read the message, he immediately turned back to the two men, who had started moving away. He rushed forward, cutting off their path.
"How about selling this thing to me? Gentleman," Ash said, his intentions clear. He was now eyeing the egg they were holding. The two men froze, exchanging wary glances. After a brief moment of hesitation, they nervously offered him a price—"10 gold coins." They were visibly worried, unsure whether they might lose more than they bargained for.
Ash didn't seem surprised. He'd already prepared the coins in his hand, ready to exchange them. With a smirk on his face, Ash said, "What a good world. Just like that, two legendary beasts are now in my hands, things are going really good."
He held out his hand, and as he took the egg, he couldn't help but feel a twisted satisfaction.
With human lifespan and how rare it's to encounter such a beasts it was natural for Ash to feel satisfaction, because even for him wouldn't have known these legendary beasts were so close to him with out the system.
As Ash approached the city's gate, He concealed the two legendary beasts in his magic coat and stored them safely, ensuring no one would see them. Before heading out, Ash remembered something—Nectol had given him, a letter!, instructing him to head to the Middle West without any other directives and hand it over to someone named Gray. But Ash wasn't particularly concerned. "Who cares? It's not like he's watching me," he muttered to himself. With that, he turned towards the nearest adventurer's guild, where he wanted to experience the true feeling of every person who got reincarnate.
"This child!!..why is he going for the adventures guild now!!" A voice echoed through the sky, a commanding tone filled with frustration. Two figures stood tall in the graveyard. The first figure, Nectol, the father of Ash and the king of the Deum Kingdom, stood with a stern expression. Behind him was an elderly man, seemingly in his late 80s, but his posture, vitality, and long, flowing hair that resembles the sky, gave the impression of someone far younger—perhaps in his 60s or 70s. "My lord, maybe you're being too hard on him," the elderly man suggested, his voice calm yet filled with concern.
Nectol turned, his gaze sharp. "Too hard?" he repeated with a touch of disbelief. "Balgeed, You do realize that everything we're doing is for his sake, to save him. If the Duke notices anymore suspicious than it seems now, The faces of those who oppose us will come to light, and soon they will stop at nothing to destroy us all. I don't have the power to defend an entire kingdom on my own!"
His voice rang out with an edge of frustration, a reflection of the immense pressure he was under. The butler, standing by his side, remained silent, understanding the weight of the king's words.
