Chapter 30: Time Is Short

Chul and Fayax led the warriors through the building, destroying everything they came across. All enemies were filled with bullets and everyone who surrender was knocked out and restrained. They moved swiftly and efficiently under Chul's command. 

*BOOM!* 

The walls exploded, blowing the warriors away. 

"Bombs? Are they destroying their own labs?" 

Chul scanned the area holding his guns tight. 

He blinked. A hand popped up in front of him. 

"?!" 

Chul leaped back and fired his gun. A metallic noise reached his ears. The hand didn't stop and grabbed at his face. A light flashed, the hand was severed and fell to the ground. Fayax stood before him wielding a sword. Chul looked beyond and saw someone dressed in black tactical wear, donning a black scorpion helmet. 

"Who the fuck is that?" 

Chul asked. 

"No idea but…." 

Several more people dressed the same way emerged from the hole in the wall. 

"There's a lot of them." 

Fayax held his blade tightly. The person who lost their arm pulled out a gun. Chul aimed his. Both fired at the same time. Their comrades rushed in as the two fired their guns. Fayax and the warriors ran on the walls and leaped at their new enemies. The scorpions welcomed them with fists, kicks, and weapons. Bodies were thrown all over the halls. Some breaking through walls. Some being buried into the earth. 

"Seven minutes is all I got." 

Chul charged in with his rifle. 

"So I'm going all out!" 

He fired his gun at his enemy. The black scorpion evaded the shots and returned fire. Chul cut the distance. He swung his rifle in the scorpion's face. The scorpion fired and pierced his stomach. Chul didn't stop. He clenched his fist and slammed it in the scorpion's chest. 

"Ohhh!" 

Chul roared and forced it off the ground with an uppercut. The punch launched it into the ceiling. Chul aimed his gun and riddled him with bullets. 

"?!" 

His eyes widened as the scorpion dug its fingers into the ceiling. It broke it apart and threw it at Chul. Chul dove out of the way. The scorpion launched off the ceiling and buried a kick in his midsection. 

"Ugh?!" 

Chul was blasted away. His body bounced off the ground and the wall. He stabilized himself and got to his knees. A foot appeared inches away from his face. Chul flung himself back and rolled out of the way. He pulled two handguns and fired. He shot his attacker in the knees, forcing them to fall. He ran at him and grabbed his face. He lifted him off the ground and slammed his head through a wall. He held onto him and slammed him through another wall, shattering his helmet. 

"?!" 

Chul's brows raised when a man with features similar to his but with blue hair was under the helmet. 

(A half-blood?) 

The man grabbed Chul's arm. Chul shot him in the head. Still he clung to the arm tightly. 

"I didn't expect that to kill you anyway." 

Chul pulled out a grenade and forced it into the man's body. He kicked the body away and it erupted. 

"Where the fuck these bastards came from?" 

He turned towards his comrades and saw a bloody battle in the halls. They were clashing with the scorpions using everything they had. 

"Fuck!" 

Chul ran to back them. 

"Get out of the way!" 

A shout stopped him. Flashes appeared before his eyes. With a boom the scorpions' bodies exploded into pieces. Fayax walked towards him with blood all over his body. 

"I wanted to preserve energy but these guys were stronger than expected." 

Chul could see his hands trembling. 

(Looks like his sword style takes a toll on him.) 

"We need to hurry. I have a feeling these bastards are everywhere." 

Inside another building, Gina and Brix had run into some scorpions as well. 

"Die!" 

She swung her whip with lightning fast speed. The scorpions moved with speed matching and even surpassing hers. They cut the distance and fired their weapons. Brix appeared in front of them. She threw punches and the bullets and lasers bounced off her. She and the warriors leaped at the scorpions. She ducked under a sword slash and lifted her attacker off the ground with an uppercut. She jumped and broke several necks with kicks. She grabbed heads and slammed them together. She threw them over her head. 

Gina's bladed-whip wrapped around them. She slammed them headfirst into the ground. She ran, dragging the bodies and slammed into her enemies. Brix kicked a scorpion through a wall. Gina threw the wall debris at the charging enemy. The warriors cut down anyone that was hit. The scorpions grabbed the blades stuck in them. They punched the warriors in the face and disarmed them. Screams rung out as they started cutting down everything in front of them. 

"I expected that you'll fight back." 

Gina stretched her hand out and a droid gave her several belts with orbs attached to them. 

"Brix, it's time to blow this place away!" 

She threw the orbs and explosions of Fire and Water erupted in the building. The scorpions rushed them without fear. A huge grin appeared on Gina's face. 

"Come, you bastards!" 

At the same time, Damini was clashing with scorpions who came outside. 

"Who the fuck are these guys?" 

The scorpions came out firing powerful machine guns and rifles. Several warriors were blown apart in instant. 

"Alright, motherfuckers." 

Damini started hopping in one spot. 

"Let's go!" 

Her body flickered. 

*Boom!* 

Bodies were blasted away. She reappeared rapidly, stabbing a scorpion floating in the air. She kicked off the body and landed on the ground. She rushed at the other scorpions. They rushed at her. She ducked under a punch and stabbed her attacker under the chin. She twisted her body to avoid a kick but was shot in the back. She spun and threw her dagger into a skull. She grabbed a gun off the ground and started firing at everything around her. Once the gun wasn't being effective, she used it to slap the nearest enemy. 

"Hahahaha! Let's go!" 

She started smacking everyone around her until the gun broke. She was punched and kicked all over the body. She swayed left and right. 

"Ahh!" 

She roared and lunged at the nearest person and ripped their throat open with her teeth. She used their body as a meat shield for shots and slashes. She lifted the body and threw it at them. She distanced herself with quick leaps back. She was breathing heavily while covered in blood. 

"Need help?" 

Zyna walked up to her without a trace of blood on her or her sword. 

"That would be great." 

"Alright, retreat for a bit. I'll handle this." 

Damini nodded and leaped into the darkness. 

"Now then, I don't know who you people are but you need to die." 

"The ones who need to die are you, Zyna." 

Julius emerged from the building. 

"It's you who are getting in our way." 

"Julius? Then I take it these are your people?" 

"That's right. They're the first batch of successful Super Soldiers. I call them Scorpions." 

"Do they have free will or their sanity? They don't seem to fear death." 

"They do. It's just that they're under the influence of a drug that takes away their fear of death and boosts their strength." 

He took out a syringe from a box. 

"Like this." 

He injected the syringe into his neck. His eyes turned a glowing blue. His muscles swelled and his veins bulged. 

"What the—" 

Julius popped up in front of Zyna before she could finish speaking. He thrust his palm out. An explosive noise rung out. Julius's palm was pressing against Zyna's blade. 

"As expected of Lady Zyna, you're a real monster." 

Blood sprayed out of his body. His figure disappeared. Zyna swung her sword up and blocked a palm from above. He disappeared again. She spun around blocking a strike again. 

"Impressive speed." 

Zyna pushed him back and slashed at his neck. The world slowed down before Julius's eyes. He ducked under the slash. The world moves again. 

"?!" 

The sword he dodged was still at his neck and even closer than before. He moved back and blood sprayed from his chest. This caused his eyes to widen. 

"Why are you surprised? I'm the best swordsman on this island." 

Zyna grinned. 

"I have to at least be this good to have that title." 

Julius smirked. 

"I'm really envious of such talent." 

The scorpions surrounded Zyna. 

"This is a waste of time, you'll never—" 

"Hello, Zyna." 

"?!" 

A new voice entered Zyna's ears. She spun around and her eyes peeled open. Standing before her was Zagan and the Holy Knights. Zagon showed her a gentle smile. 

"Ten minutes are up." 

Zagon stretched his hand out towards her. Zyna's body froze; her heart stopped as the weight of the world fell down on her. As the hand slowly approached her, all thoughts left her mind. All except one word— 

DEATH. 

"Hold on there." 

The word disappeared as a familiar voice reached her ears. This voice caused her body to relax. Someone gently pulled her away from Zagon as they stood between them. 

"Shouldn't you great your twin first, my adorably scummy brother?" 

Zagon smiled looking at the face identical to his. 

"Hello, my naïve and stupid sister." 

The two Lords wore smiles as they spoke in unison. 

"I've come to kill you, my other half."
