Chapter 6

I sent a message to Damien and turned off my phone.

"Damien, I don't want to do this anymore for now. I'm sorry."

Let the sky fall, I just want to escape from everything there.

The next day, Damien cornered me at the entrance of the theater.

"Could you at least make your act more convincing? You didn't even bring anything with you. Is this how you run away from home?"

I'm not running away from home. I really just don't want to deal with this anymore.

I steeled myself and finally voiced the thoughts I'd been having these past few days.

"Damien, let's break up."

"Break up?"

Damien reacted as if he'd just heard a hilarious joke.

"Melody, I think I might have been too lenient with you lately. Is that why you're getting bolder?"

It was the first time I'd heard Damien use this tone.

Seething, full of pressure.
