Chapter 7:The Devil In Me

 "The devil inside me"

"Am sorry David, if only there was any other way.. .

I said to my self, as I got on the ledge .

"Fuck it! Stop!!!

David yelled as he began hitting door trying to break it open.

I stared down from the ledge of the top floor tears flowing down my cheek.

As the door broke open, I leaped down closing my eyes, drifting off from this world...

"IRIS! NOOOO!

Iris 🍁

I laid there covered in my own blood, I couldn't feel anything, I felt the life leaving my body and in that moment all I could think of was David, the day we met. 

I was so happy that I found someone who called him self my friend.

"Am sorry,... David 

I muttered softly as I smiled to my self as the life completely faded from my body.

David 🗿

A couple minutes ago 

I got to the hospital, I was worried about Iris I mean she just collapsed earlier in church.

I went to the receptionist as I requested to see the nun who was brought in to earlier.

I was granted some visitors hours and told what floor and room she was on.

I took the stairs to the upper floor of the hospital and it took me bit to find the exact room.

on my way I saw Malena walking out the room the nurse's told me Iris was.

I walked over to the room as Malena turned and noticed me. 

She ignored me and walked off as I got to the door I saw iris standing at the glass door staring at me with sadness in her eyes.

She turned the locks and I knocked and signaled her to opened up.

"Iris open up!

I said.

But she stood silent and she turned away from the door.

"Iris...???!

I called out to her as she walked over to the window.

"Iris stop what are you doing !

I said yelling as I began hitting door trying to break it open.

"Stop! Iris!!!!!!!!!!

I yelled as I kicked the door with enough force breaking the locks.

I rushed in to grab her but she jumped.

"No!!!!! 

I screamed at the top of my voice but it was already too late.

She leaped out of the window falling to her death.

"No! No no no no no no!!!!!

I screamed as I rushed out of the room heading outside.

I got outside and saw Iris, laying there covered in her own blood.

"Iris, this is a joke right? your okay please get up..

I muttered softly trapped in the delusion that she was okay.

I took a step closer but she didn't respond to my call.

I fell on my knees before her as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Iris wake up! please..

I said again but she laid there silent.

I reached out to her as I grabbed her holding her close to me as I screamed at the top of my voice breaking into tears.

"Some one! HELP!!!!! Anybody please!!

I begged calling out and looking around. 

I noticed the hospital staff and passer by staring at us unwilling to help.

I held her close in my arms hugging her closely and in that moment all I could do was cry.

Her doctor walked over to me reaching for my shoulder he said.

"Am sorry, she's gone...

His words shattered my heart, as I turned to him yelling with a loud voice.

"DON'T TOUCH ME! You were supposed to look after her!!!

How the hell did this happen..

I said raising my teary eyes at him. 

I noticed Malena standing with the people watching, with a menacing smile on her face and that's when it hit me. 

Memories of what Monna said flashed through my mind.

"Well David, my sister might be smart but I am smarter. 

I know what she's planning and I know what she is capable of.

You either become a pawn in this game or become a player.

"A pawn, in her game...

I muttered softly through my lips as memories of earlier went through my head.

Malena was the last person to leave her room.

"You did this, you killed her...

I said feeling nothing but anger and hatred inside me.

I let go of irises body as I turned to her towards the crowd.

That moment all I wanted was to rip her apart with my bare hands.

I ran after her towards the crowd covered in blood as the people around rushed after me.

"You did this, this is all your fault!!!!!

I said getting close my hands reaching for her neck.

They grabbed me before I could get to her.

She took a step back seeing me lash out at her as she tripped and fell.

"Iris is dead, because of you! LET ME GO!

I said with a loud voice as her facial expression changed, for the first time I saw fear in Malena's eyes..

I struggled trying to break free, I had nothing but rage, anger and hate for her and killing her was the only thing in my mind.

She sat there on the ground panting heavily and staring at me with fear in her eyes as they held me down.

"David!!! Stop!

a voice called out to me as the next thing I felt was slap on my cheek.

I turned and Saw Monna.

"Please, David don't make it worse than it already is....

She said as she struck me again, this time knocking me back to my senses.

I stared at her back to my senses. 

I pulled away from the people trying to hold me, silent unable to utter a word.

I walked back to Iris's lifeless body as I picked her up in my arms.

"Your safe now Iris, No one is gonna hurt you..."

I muttered softly as the doctor walked up to me.

"This way...

He said as I followed him back into the hospital.

My mind felt blank, my soul felt empty. 

Loosing Iris was my breaking point and finally I've been broken.

The doctor took me to the basement of the hospital where I laid Iris down on the table.

Staring at her lifeless body all I could do was cry.

I cried for two hours till I had no more tears left sitting right by her side.

All I could do was stare, at her lifeless corpse before me. 

The doctor walked into the room to check on me and found me the same way he left staring at Irises body.

"Hey, how are you feeling...

he asked as I stood there completely silent.

"You must have Loved her...

he said again as I remained silent.

"The church, has asked we cremate the body, they said her death was an act of suicide which is a sin against God and the church, a burial will not be conducted for her.

Am sorry...

For some reason I smirked as he said it.

"Those bastards...

I muttered softly.

"Doctor, what happened to her...? what did you say to her??

I asked and turned to him.

my eyes had nothing but darkness and sorrow in them. 

"I don't understand...

he replied.

"Iris was my friend, innocent, kind and sweet.

She once saved me when I tried to kill myself.

It's makes absolutely no sense that she would kill her self.

WHAT HAPPENED!?

I asked again raising my voice as the doctor turning to him as he took a step back.

"I don't know what happened, earlier today after she woke up, I examined and gave her the medical report. She didn't seem happy with it the woman you attacked was present in the room and afterwards I left.

"Oh And what was the report..

I asked once more with a calm voice.

"I can't tell you, patient mecal reports are confidential.

he said.

"Iris is no longer a patient!!! She's now a corpse!!!

My only friend is dead! Doctor I deserve an explanation. You owe me this...

I said raising my voice as the doctor exhaled and said.

"She found out she was pregnant!

My heart skipped a beat as I stared in shock the moment he said it.

"Iris was what..?

I said as the doctor looked down.

"She was pregnant and after I broke the news to her she didn't seem happy cause she was a nun.

I left her alone with her friend, the one with the blonde hair. That's all I know, am sorry your friend death. .

he said as I stood they still in shock.

"Thank you doctor, am great ful...

I said with a smile on my face.

"I will get her prepared for the cremation..

I said as the doctor nodded at me.

He left the room as I turned back to her.

"Hey are you okay...

a voice came from behind me as I turned around and saw Monna.

"Am fine..

I said with a short tone as she walked closer to me.

"What the hell were you thinking, attacking My sister like that.. 

she said yelling at me.

"Am sorry, I wasn't thinking straight..

I replied my head faced down .

She took a couple steps closer as she dropped the bag she was with holding pulling me into her arm she hugged me.

"Am sorry about Iris... I brought her some fresh cloth for the cremation service.

She said breaking the hug as I raised my head and answered.

"Thanks...

"We should get her prepared..

Monna said with a smile as she adjust her blind fold revealing her left eye.

We both took off her clothes and cleaned the blood off her body.

I noticed Iris had light bruises on her body 

from her back down to her hips and a few on her thighs.

After we finished, we got her dressed and wrapped her entire body in white sheet's then took her outside. 

There was a ambulance waiting for us just outside the hospital. 

We took her in and drove straight to the cremation factory on the other side of town.

There's was a silence between I and Monna, honestly I couldn't find the right words to say unill we got there.

I picked up Iris my self and took her into the factory that evening..

The attendants took her off my arms, placing her on the furnace.

Monna said a prayer for her as I stood at the corner watching as they shut the canister close.

"Wait, let me do it...

I said to the attendant.

She nodded in reply as I took a couple steps closer.

"Pull that lever...

The attendant said as she stepped back.

"Iris, am sorry.. If only I stood up for you things would have been different. You would still be alive.

But I promise you this, Deacon cho, father, Malena, Ezma and everyone who ever wronged us is gonna suffer a thousand more times than what you suffered. Am gonna burn the Fucking Monnestary to the ground, even if it means selling my soul to the devil.

And when am done, I join you on the other side..

Rest well Iris, you will always be my friend, in this world and the next...

I said with tears falling off my eyes as I pulled the lever turning on the machine.

I felt a some one behind him holding my shoulder as I turned around seeing Monna.

"Am here for you David, it's gonna be okay..

she said flashing a gentle smile at me.

"Thanks, I really needed to hear that..

I said as I smiled genuinely through my tears.

"I know what happened to Iris...

She quickly grabbed my hands and we both left the room, heading out to the hall way. 

"What do you mean?

she asked.

"Malena was behind it..

on my way to see Iris today, I saw her leaving her room and when I got to the door Iris was about to kill her self.

Malena must have said something to her! to push her to do it.

"Okay but that alone isn't enough evidence...

she said.

"I thought so then I confronted the doctor who left before Malena.

He said the reason iris collapsed, was that she was having morning sickness, and he confirmed that Iris was pregnant.

"Holy shit!

Monna screamed in shocked.

"The funny thing is, Malena was present when he broke the news. 

Iris wasn't too happy about it so he left her, and after he did Malena left the room minutes after.

I have a feeling Malena pressured her into taking her own life to cover the fact that Deacon's cho was responsible.

"Mmm Deacon cho huh.. Thats all speculation, but we have Strong proof to connect Deacon Cho to Iris's death using the doctors testimony but not Malena since we didn't actually see her do anything. 

But don't worry David, I have a plan...

"A plan?

I said a bit curious 

"Have you ever heard the saying, An eye for an eye?

she asked as I quickly replied.

"Yes I have...

"Tomorrow there will be a meeting at the church between father, and the Deacon concerning Iris and mother's death.

That's when you will come in, Since you're father's squire, you will be in charge of serving drinks and meals.

She slips her hand into her pocket and took out a little bottle.

There you will slip a little bit of this into Deacon Cho's drink..

I reached out and took the bottle as I asked.

"What is this? 

poison???

"No, but a little laxative I call pay back hehe..

she said as she giggled.

"Seriously laxative???

I said a bit disappointed.

"Come on trust me buddy..

she said patting my shoulder.

"Fine..

I said slipping it into my pocket.

"If This doesn't kill him immediately I will ..

"Don't do anything stupid, just follow the plan and stay the hell away from my sister. 

We have to deal with her pawns first before we kill the queen. 

"Okay fine..

I said turning away as she smiled taking a step closer to me.

"I might not be able to see your pain clearly, but I can feel it David...

It hurts, and just know I will be right here by your side..

She said leaning closer as she pressed a soft kiss on my cheek.

my entire body froze as she kissed my cheek and smiling.

"Thanks, Monna..

I muttered softly as the attendance walked out the room holding a flax.

"Here, this is her ashes...

she said as I reached out to take it.

"Am sorry for your loss..

she said before leaving..

I held her ashes close in my arms as I turned to Monna.

"We should head back...

She nodded in response as we both went back to the church.
