Scarlett frowned, visibly displeased, and snapped at me, "What are you doing? Don't you know how to knock?"
Dane, on the other hand, looked a bit uneasy and quickly stood up.
"Teacher Myerson, you two talk. I'll head out first."
He opened the car door and hastily left.
Scarlett continued scrolling on her phone, completely ignoring me.
"Yael told me about the mess you caused by lashing out at fans. We've followed the PR team's plan and taken down the trending topic. Don't let this escalate any further."
She leaned back in her chair, nonchalant. "How is it me lashing out at fans? Wasn't I right? They're always trying to tell me what to do, and now they're ganging up on the production team demanding explanations. They're really overestimating their importance."
"I, Scarlett, have reached this level of success on my own, not because of these fans."
Suppressing my emotions, I said, "You need to be mindful of your reputation. This incident does you no favors."
"We should consider the fans' suggestions when appropriate. To be honest, the styling for this show isn't great..."
Scarlett's expression changed, and she let out a cold laugh.
"Isn't it just because I took on this role myself that you're unhappy? Now you're nitpicking about the styling too!""
"Besides, I've reached this level of status now. Why should I still be held hostage by fans?"
"So what if I'm trending? It's perfect for drumming up some buzz for my new show."
This drama was indeed one that Scarlett had taken on. At the time, I disagreed with her accepting it because the production team was rather rough around the edges.
But Scarlett was willing, especially after hearing that Dane was the male lead. She immediately signed the contract through her personal studio.
Thinking about this, I felt anger rising within me as well.
"Fans holding you hostage? When the fans asked the company to set up a studio for you, how come you were so obedient then, saying we should listen to the fans' suggestions? Now when fans give you styling advice, it's suddenly holding you hostage?"
That time when fans collectively left comments demanding Scarlett establish her own personal studio, faced with Scarlett's pitiful little face, I agreed.
Do you know what that means? It means Scarlett can do whatever she wants. Because of our romantic relationship, my company doesn't even have a contract with her.
"Should I not have set up my own studio? Am I supposed to be your cash cow forever?"
"Zoran, don't delude yourself into thinking you can control me forever. Without me, you wouldn't be where you are today."
Those words felt like a bucket of ice water, chilling me to the bone.
"I thought our shared struggle, the efforts I made for her, were nothing more than me using her as a cash cow in her eyes, just me stepping in dog shit and getting lucky.
At that moment, Scarlett's phone rang.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the contact name was Garrison.
A well-respected agent in the industry.
Scarlett saw my expression but still answered the call.
"Garrison..."
After a brief exchange, Scarlett hung up.
"Garrison wants me to join his Inez Media as a partner," Scarlett said, her tone somewhat smug.
Seeing that I didn't respond, Scarlett arrogantly added, "I haven't agreed yet."
I looked at her, momentarily at a loss for words.
Yeah, from the moment she wanted to open her own studio, she was probably planning to leave me.
What did she mean by not agreeing yet?
Was it that they hadn't finalized the deal, or was she trying to get me to give up more benefits?
"Well, think it over carefully then," I said.
I turned and walked out.
I ran into Yael, who was about to come in. Seeing her questioning look, I said flatly,
"Let her do what she wants."
"Don't take down the trending topic either. If she thinks it's good for promoting the show, then so be it."
I promptly reached out to Inez Media.
Garrison and I had some history, as I'd previously yielded some resources to him, so he was quite courteous to me.
"Teacher Myerson, please don't think I'm trying to poach your talent."
"Scarlett mentioned she was planning to end her collaboration with you, saying her management contract is now with her own studio, and that I shouldn't contact you."
"It was actually Scarlett who approached me first. She's so famous that I was genuinely excited, so I invited her to join Inez as a partner, offering her some luxury brand endorsements as part of the deal."
