Chapter 209: The House Battle (Part Two)

Unlike the noisy Gryffindor table, Professor McGonagall's announcement seemed to have caused little stir at the Slytherin table.

In contrast, the little snakes' table was very quiet, with many speeding up their dining.

Daphne remained as composed as ever, savoring every dish on the table, carefully selecting what she thought was the most delicious food to pack.

But this silence was soon broken. Unable to contain his curiosity and gossip, Blaise quickly asked:

"Daphne, where did Yu go? Do you know who her dance partner is?"

Daphne glanced at him, lazily responding, having seen through his intentions:

"How should I know? I'm just going to burn the midnight oil on my homework and want to have some late-night snacks."

Blaise, unfazed by the commotion, raised an eyebrow and soon began scanning Draco and Theodore.

He immediately noticed something amiss.

Draco, who had been boasting about the custom-made black velvet high-collared dress robes his parents ordered for him, suddenly became taciturn, his fork moving so fast it almost left afterimages, ignoring Pansy's occasional hints.

On the other hand, the usually reticent Theodore was wearing a black suit today, even donning a silver-green tie. He symbolically sipped some soup, put down his spoon, his brow slightly furrowed with anxiety.

Meanwhile, some senior Slytherins began hurriedly packing their food, creating a tense atmosphere across the entire table.

Blaise sighed inwardly at the spectacle, then glanced at the other three tables in the hall, fanning the flames for the little snakes:

"Although I think our Slytherin champion wouldn't choose a student from another house as a dance partner—"

"But those students seem to be eating faster than us, look at those Weasley twins, they're almost out the door—"

Theodore suddenly stood up from his seat, wiping his mouth with a napkin:

"Excuse me, I need to return to the common room, my Potions group assignment isn't finished—"

"Alright, good luck." Blaise replied nonchalantly, finding joy in observing human behavior, "The Hufflepuffs are also standing up, and Ravenclaw—oh? Who's that Gryffindor girl? She's carrying a lot of pizza!"

Daphne looked up, her face paling in shock, she hurriedly wrapped up the food she packed for Jane Yu:

"I'm leaving first! You guys eat slowly, I just remembered my Charms essay isn't done!"

Blaise could barely contain his laughter, his gaze continued scanning the Gryffindor table:

"Let me see, Potter seems about to stand up—"

"How dare he?" Draco shot up from his seat, making Pansy next to him almost gasp in anger, "I mean, my homework is still missing a section, I need to go back and finish it!"

Blaise couldn't suppress his grin, his instigations quickly sending away half of the Slytherins at the table.

It seemed the Hogwarts assignments truly stressed them out, so much so they couldn't even finish their meals.

...

Unfortunately, the little snakes and little lions met near the end of their paths.

The two groups faced off at the entrance of the Slytherin common room.

After a brief 30-second silence, Draco first regained his wits, starting to exercise his verbal prowess.

"Isn't it Potter?" he said loudly, with Goyle and Crabbe glaring behind him, "What, no girl in your stinking lion's den willing to notice you, so you had to come here to make your presence known?"

"Get lost, it's none of your business, Malfoy." Harry replied coldly.

Hermione and Ron, panting, caught up with him, both glaring angrily at Draco and the Slytherin students around him.

"Oh, Potter, you even brought Big Teeth and the Red Mole." Draco sneered, spotting the Weasley twins and Ginny nearby, "The whole mole family came, did you dig a tunnel from Gryffindor Tower to Slytherin?"

The Weasley twins drew their wands, ready to teach him a lesson.

"You twitchy little ferret, aren't you, Malfoy?"

Hermione shot back sharply, prompting a burst of laughter from the Gryffindors.

Meanwhile, Daphne, holding a large package of food, warily eyed Ginny and her pizza:

"You don't think Yu likes pizza, do you, Weasley?"

Ginny retorted without hesitation:

"Of course she does. You must not know, at my house, her favorite is my mom's baked pizza—"

Daphne was taken aback, she began to respond with her own sarcasm:

"Really? Poor Yu, she must have suffered a lot at your house, even having to endure food she doesn't like."

"And I brought her all her favorite foods, look at these sweet little cakes, could your mom make such delicacies?"

Ginny felt the anger in her chest almost uncontrollable.

She began to imagine herself smearing the pizza on Daphne's face.

But Harry and Draco acted faster, glaring at each other, drawing their wands.

"Incendio!" Harry shouted.

"Densaugeo!" Draco screamed.

Harry's beam hit Goyle's face, Draco's hit Hermione. Goyle screamed, clutching his nose with an ugly boil, while Hermione's teeth grew rapidly, reaching her chin.

Seeing things going south, the usually quiet Theodore, who was frowning, swiftly drew his wand and cast a Leg-Locker Curse at Harry, causing him to fall flat on the ground.

But the Weasley twins quickly noticed his intention, sending a Tarantallegra dance curse each to Draco and Theodore.

Ginny also successfully smeared pizza on Daphne's face, and Daphne immediately threw two small cakes at her head in retaliation, both struggling and shouting in cream and cheese, seemingly forgetting their witch identities, smearing food on each other's faces.

The corridor was in chaos.

Seeing they were outnumbered, Crabbe, who had escaped, quickly returned to the Slytherin common room, shouting:

"Gryffindor has invaded!"

The Slytherin students who had returned earlier rushed out, spells flying chaotically in the corridor; soon, the Gryffindors, not to be outdone, called for reinforcements, and both sides began exchanging spells, even accidentally hitting innocent Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws "passing by with dance invitations."

The enraged Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs quickly brought reinforcements, joining the melee.

The situation spiraled out of control.

"Don't think I don't know what you're up to!" Daphne shouted angrily, "And you, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, trying to fish in troubled waters to invite Yu, aren't you? Today you'll have to get past me first!"

She was knocked out by a spell from Susan, face down in the pizza.

Returning from the hall, Daphne's sister Astoria screamed, drew her wand, and joined the fray in her sister's place.

The scene became indistinguishable, everyone was casting spells chaotically, the corridor was flooded with dungbombs thrown by Fred and George, everyone's robes stank unbearably, and there were shouts and groans everywhere.

Even the prefects' shouts of "deducting house points" and "deducting school points" were ignored.

The battle gradually reached a fever pitch, with more participants joining.

Until everyone was immobilized by spells from the hastily arriving heads of houses.
