The man in white kneels mid-air, his entire body trembling with fear.
Beads of sweat, as large as beans, form on his forehead and roll down in an instant. His voice naturally attracts the attention of those nearby.
As the surrounding warriors turn to look, shock flashes across their faces. In the blink of an eye, they all scatter, creating a large open space above the dark and twisted entrance of Asura Purgatory.
Now, from a safe distance, they all fix their eyes on Ling Ye.
F*ck! Is it really the Blood Shadow Demon Lord?
Everyone here is at least at the level of a god—strong enough to recognize Ling Ye instantly.
The moment they confirm his identity, they step back even further, ensuring they don't get too close. Some believe that merely standing near him might offend him.
No one dares to provoke Ling Ye.
Only the man in white remains, still kneeling, too terrified to run or even stand. His entire body trembles uncontrollably.
However, just when he expects Ling Ye to acknowledge him—perhaps to punish him—Ling Ye simply ignores him. He doesn't spare him a glance.
Instead, Ling Ye's figure dives straight into the pitch-black distortion below.
He enters Asura Purgatory.
Even after Ling Ye is gone, the man in white remains frozen in place for a long time. Finally, he exhales deeply, his chest rising and falling as relief floods through him.
"Phew…"
His entire body is drenched in sweat.
"Did he just ignore me? Like I was air?"
He can't believe his luck. If Ling Ye had taken him seriously, his fate would have been sealed.
"F*ck! That was the most terrifying moment of my life. I even knelt voluntarily!"
He swears to himself: "I will never talk to strangers casually again. Ever."
After standing still for a few moments, he quickly turns and leaves. It's better to get as far away from this place as possible. The last thing he wants is for Ling Ye to notice him again.
The crowd around him, however, is still buzzing with discussion.
"What is the Blood Shadow Demon Lord doing here? Does he need to train?"
"Idiot! That's Ling Ye, ruler of the heavens and myriad worlds. Does someone like him need training?"
"He's already invincible. What could he possibly gain here?"
"No idea… but one thing's for sure—I'm not going inside while he's in there. If I run into him, I'll be dead before I even realize what happened."
"Yeah, me too. I'll wait outside until he comes out."
The whispers continue to spread.
The presence of the Blood Shadow Demon Lord in Asura Purgatory makes them all uneasy. Nobody dares to enter while he's inside.
Then, a different topic arises.
"Speaking of which… I heard Ye Tian, the leader of the Heaven and Earth Alliance, is close to breaking through to the Boundless Realm. When that happens… do you think he'll launch a crusade against the Blood Shadow Demon Lord?"
"I heard the same thing! The Chaos Universe has been under Ling Ye's rule for countless years. Ye Tian wants to put an end to that and free the heavens and myriad worlds."
"Does it even matter? This is a battle between gods. We're just weaklings in comparison."
"Exactly! Whether Ling Ye wins or Ye Tian wins, what changes for us? Prosperity? Suffering? It's always the same for those at the bottom."
"True… It's just another war between great powers. In the end, it's just about who gets to be king."
Their voices blend into a chaotic murmur.
While they are curious about the upcoming battle between Ling Ye and Ye Tian, they all know it is beyond their control.
---
Each level of Asura Purgatory is its own world.
Spiritual suppression increases with every descent. The deeper one goes, the heavier the pressure.
Long ago, this place was a great prison for the most powerful criminals of the heavens. Now, only the strong can survive here.
Ling Ye descends directly to the first floor. Without hesitation, he heads for the entrance to the second.
At the core of this floor, a black distorted space marks the passage downward.
Several powerful figures linger near the entrance, hesitating.
The pressure here is already overwhelming. If they descend further, it will only become more unbearable.
And if they enter in a weakened state… what happens if someone attacks them?
The deeper one goes, the greater the risks—and the greater the rewards.
But in Asura Purgatory, the strong devour the weak. Countless warriors have perished here. One mistake could mean death.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a blood-red figure streaks past them, diving into the darkness without hesitation.
Exclamations ring out.
"What was that?! So fast!"
"Was that… a person?"
"He just flew in without thinking? Does he not understand the danger?"
"Must be some fool who doesn't know what he's doing. Newcomers never fear until it's too late."
"Poor guy. Another one throwing his life away."
"It happens all the time in Asura Purgatory. Every day, countless people die here."
The murmurs continue as Ling Ye vanishes.
He moves downward, passing through each layer effortlessly.
Every floor he crosses causes a stir.
At first, on the upper floors, people assume he's just another reckless warrior.
But as he descends further and further, that assumption starts to change.
Is this man… a top-tier powerhouse?
Nobody but the strongest should be able to move like that.
Eventually, Ling Ye reaches the seventeenth floor.
Unlike the upper levels, this place is nearly deserted. Only a few scattered warriors remain.
Ling Ye moves toward the entrance to the final layer.
Ahead of him lies the eighteenth floor—where the legendary Mad Asura resides.
Just as Ling Ye approaches the entrance, a sneering voice echoes behind him.
"Heh, anyone who makes it here must be at least at the peak of the God Emperor Realm. But… coming here alone? That's rare."
Five figures fly toward him.
They move together, a pre-formed team. In Asura Purgatory, lone warriors are easy prey.
If they encounter someone alone, they won't let the opportunity go to waste.
A single God Emperor usually carries valuable treasures.
Even consuming their soul would provide a massive boost in power.
One of the warriors chuckles.
"You're new here, aren't you?"
The five of them close in.
"Listen, you won't last ten seconds on the last floor. Only those at the Extreme God Realm can survive there."
"We don't want trouble. Just hand over all your emperor-rank treasures, and we'll let you walk away."
Another smirks.
"A peak God Emperor must have some valuable things, right?"
They all grin, expecting an easy prize.
Ling Ye, however, remains silent.
His mind is elsewhere. His divine consciousness has already scanned the floor below.
Mad Asura is there.
That's the reason he came here.
Ling Ye needs to rebuild the Blood Shadow Demon Army—and for that, he needs powerful warriors.
Mad Asura is a lone beast, a battle-crazed warrior with no ambition beyond strength.
He has the power of a ruler but no interest in leading.
Instead, he treats Chaos Asura Prison—the place he grew up and once hated—as his home.
Ling Ye knows he needs a fighter like Mad Asura.
And he will have him.
