Yoder burst into the shabby motel room, his anger palpable as he confronted Zamari. "How could you be so heartless? That was our child, a life with potential! She could have had everything. Why did you deny her the chance to live?" he shouted repeatedly.
I noticed a solitary tear slide down his cheek, watching it intently until it vanished into the floor, leaving a small, dark mark.
"Did you ever truly care for me?" I asked softly.
I spoke deliberately, choosing my words carefully. "I've had feelings for you, both fondness and love. In our college days, you were my senior, well-known, someone I thought unreachable."
I went on, "There's a moment from the past you probably don't recall. Given my background and situation then, I was incredibly timid. Not owning a computer, I struggled with the self-service printer in the campus copy center."
