"Adan... How did you get the bruises?"
His mother's voice snapped him out of the trance, pulling his attention away from the admiration he had been silently giving her. Oh, how he missed her face and voice.
'Crap... the bruise. I cried so hard that I forgot about it.'
He had always hidden the bullying incidents and bruises from his mother, not wanting to worry her—or maybe because he was ashamed. Perhaps it was both.
He cleared his throat, trying to act casual.
"Ehem? I was careless... I slipped down the stairs."
He gave an awkward smile, adding a thumbs-up motion for extra emphasis.
"Are you serious?! No concussion? Should we go to the hospital? Oh, my poor baby..."
'Yay... way to go, Adan. Classic excuse. You cried nonstop, and your face must be puffy. Geez, you're 34 years old, for heaven's sake.'
But looking at his mother, placing that worried smile on him, it made him let out a small laugh.
"You're laughing?? This is serious, Adan!"
Mrs. Elina smacked him on the back.
"Oww... Ow, Mom!"
He whined, pouting.
"I'm fine... Your son has a shield. A fat shell, eh?"
He said playfully. Squeezing his donut belly..
Now, had the tears dried he realized, his mother had a panel too. It could only be seen through his eyes. She seemed unaware of it.

'D?! My mother's strength is D?! That's why it hurt a bit when she smacked me!'
Adan nodded in acknowledgment, glancing at his mother's stats.
"Her luck... Is it because of me? She's had an ungrateful son after all."
He glanced at her again... She could hear him. She wasn't deaf yet. So... he could prevent that, too. Yeah... He must.
"My mother ... look pretty today..hmm, no ..no you look pretty every day."
He smiled, offering his mother more compliments, hoping to be a better son.
"Aww... How sweet! Did you do something to make me mad, Adan?"
His mother asked suspiciously raising her brow, though she was still a little confused by his change in attitude. She still loved him in the end.
Adan shrugged and plastered that idiotic smile back on his face.
"Can't a son express his love towards his mother?"
He hummed..
