Orli realized that things couldn't go on like this, so she proposed:
## Orli "How about letting me take care of Scabbers for now? I can keep him in the cellar. After all, rats like dark environments like cellars, and Scabbers was quite happy with me before."
# Ron "But he's my pet, I can't always let you look after him."
Ron hesitated a bit.
## Orli "Don't worry, he's pretty much my old partner now."
Orli took Scabbers out of Ron's pocket and placed him in her palm. Scabbers just lifted his eyelids, saw it was her, and went back to sleep peacefully.
## Orli "You see, he's quite old now and should enjoy his twilight years in the cellar. I could even buy Scabbers from you, and since you're going to Hogsmeade, you could get a new pet, maybe an owl? Bigger than Percy's."
# Ron "That's not right, Scabbers isn't worth much, and I don't want to sell him. But you can take him to the cellar..."
Ron was still a bit reluctant to part with Scabbers, but with Harry and Hermione helping Orli persuade him, he finally agreed to let Orli take Scabbers to the cellar, on the condition that Scabbers be brought back to the common room once a week because he'd miss him.
Orli readily agreed, knowing that in a few weeks when Scabbers turned back into Peter Pettigrew, his sneaky appearance might become a psychological shadow for Ron.

The next class after Herbology was Transfiguration. Harry was determined to ask Professor McGonagall if he could go to Hogsmeade with everyone else after class. Orli thought this wasn't a good idea as Professor McGonagall was always strict about rules and was unlikely to bend them.
Sure enough, after class, Professor McGonagall started collecting everyone's permission forms, and Harry... his small request was, of course, not granted.
# McGonagall "You heard what I just said. No form, no go. It's the rule."
Professor McGonagall said sternly.
# Harry "But—Professor, my aunt and uncle—you know, they're Muggles, they don't really understand—understand Hogwarts' rules..."
Harry stammered, with Ron nodding vigorously beside him encouragingly.
# Harry "If you say I can go—"
# McGonagall "But I won't say that."
Professor McGonagall said. She stood up and neatly placed her papers into the drawer.
# McGonagall "The form clearly states that parental or guardian consent is required."
She turned to look at him, sighing.
# McGonagall "I'm sorry, but that's my final decision."
Harry's shoulders slumped, Hermione showed a look of regret. As for Orli, she thought this outcome was completely expected.
# Ron "Even if you can't go to Hogsmeade, there'll be a feast that night,"
Ron said, trying to cheer Harry up,
# Ron "You know, the Halloween feast."
# Harry "Yeah,"
Harry said a bit gloomily,
# Harry "Great."
Orli sympathetically patted his shoulder. The Halloween feast was always great, but if it was after spending the day with everyone in Hogsmeade, the feast would undoubtedly taste much better.
When Hermione wasn't looking, she mouthed to Harry:
## Orli "Secret passage, Invisibility Cloak."
Harry immediately smiled knowingly. He gently nudged her arm with his elbow, and they nodded to each other in understanding.

On the morning before Halloween, Orli woke up with everyone and went downstairs for breakfast. She was extremely excited about Hogsmeade but tried to act as usual on the surface, even a bit dejected. Harry played his part even better, looking so downcast that even Percy came over to comfort him a bit.
