"Yes, he got it"
Ichigo screamed with excitement as Teigen snatched the red flag just in time before Shin could reach it. Once again, Teigen leapt into the sky, but before he could land, a firm grip latched onto his foot, yanking him down. He reacted instinctively, twisting his body mid-fall to avoid crashing awkwardly.
Landing face-first, his hands and feet found precarious purchase on four bamboo sticks holding him from the muddy pit beneath and apparent disqualification, while Shin vaulted over him with a laugh.
Mid-air, Shin snatched the flag from Teigen's grasp and, this time, made sure to destroy as many tall bamboo poles as possible on his way down, grinning mischievously.
Teigen wasn't giving up that easily. Springing back into action, his small frame surged forward with surprising speed, weaving through the forest of bamboo sticks like a seasoned warrior. His heart thumped in his chest, but his focus never wavered. He moved gracefully, his mind replaying the lessons his older brother had taught him about perseverance and agility.
Just as he built up momentum, a challenger collided with him, nearly sending him tumbling to the ground. Teigen stumbled but quickly recovered, using the other contestant's body as leverage to propel himself forward in a daring move.
Ichigo's cheers echoed through the air, louder and more animated than ever. His enthusiasm was infectious, though it drew scornful glares from others who couldn't understand his over-the-top performance.
Teigen's sharp eyes zeroed in on Shin, who had pulled ahead and was tearing through the remaining bamboo sticks like a whirlwind. Teigen clenched his teeth. He needed to act fast if he wanted to win.
As Shin approached the final stretch, Teigen spotted his opportunity. Without hesitation, he leapt onto a falling bamboo stick, using it as a springboard to propel himself higher. In a stunning display of athleticism, he executed a mid-air flip, his movements fluid and precise.
The crowd gasped as he hopped from one bamboo stick to another, defying gravity with every step.
Shin glanced back, momentarily stunned by Teigen's acrobatics. That brief distraction was all Teigen needed. With a burst of speed and agility, he closed the distance between them. At the perfect moment, Teigen reached out and snatched the flag from Shin's grip, his hand steady and sure.
He landed gracefully on the ground, his feet touching the finish line as the crowd erupted in cheers. The orphans screamed with joy, their voices mingling with Ichigo's triumphant shouts. Even Yui, was impressed.
"Well done, kid," Yui said, stepping forward with a grudging smile as she held out a fifty-silver note. "You won fair and square today. If only you weren't so smelly and worthless, I might have found a use for you."
Teigen accepted the money with a polite bow, unfazed by Yui's backhanded compliment. Before he could say a word, Ichigo lifted him high into the air, twirling him around in celebration.
"Tonight, we feast!" Ichigo declared, already imagining the food they could share with the other orphans.
For that brief moment, their world of hardship and struggle melted away. All that remained was the pure joy of victory, the kind of triumph that only children could savor in a world that so often sought to crush them.
