In Jiang Xiaoci's analysis, the enemy already knew of Wang Chen's existence. Knowing his strength, they still dared to face him directly in battle. This was terrifying.
It was the worst-case scenario, and she didn't want Mike to be completely defeated. For now, retreating from the two-city area seemed the safest choice. But now, Mike had no other option. He could give up the two cities to stronger forces, but he would never surrender them to the butchers!
Even if he had to lose, he could never become a coward who betrayed his people.
"Whoo!"
The wind howled fiercely as Chen Dafu descended like a missile, targeting the missile launchers hidden in the fog.
"Warning! Someone above us!"
"Sound the alarm!"
The elite soldiers below reacted swiftly, noticing the disturbance overhead. But it was too late. As the alarm was sounded, they looked up in shock, only to watch in horror as the mist was shattered, and a figure crashed down with a thunderous impact.
"Boom! Bang!!"
Instantly, flames erupted, metal shrapnel flew in every direction, and the force of the shockwave knocked several hundred soldiers off their feet. Fragments of wreckage pierced through their bodies, blood splattering in bright red streaks.
The missile vehicles near the impact zone were toppled, their heavy warheads crashing into the dirt, unable to launch.
"Who's there?!"
As soldiers scrambled to their feet in panic, they quickly raised their weapons, aiming at the crash site, their guns pointing in all directions.
The mist had been scattered, but visibility remained poor. The ordinary soldiers could barely see what was happening.
"Bang!"
A soldier fired a special tracer round into the air. The red glow illuminated the area where the figure had landed, revealing a man with his shirt torn off, standing triumphantly on top of a twisted missile vehicle.
His clothes had been burned off from the friction of freefall, and the missile vehicle beneath him was reduced to scrap, half-submerged in the mud. Yet, the man stood undamaged, his posture proud and defiant, scanning the surroundings with a sneer.
"Enemy! Open fire!"
In the darkness, a commanding voice shouted. No one hesitated. Gunfire erupted from every direction, and a storm of bullets rained down on Chen Dafu.
"Ratatatat! Ratatatat!"
The barrage was intense, the bullets hitting his muscular frame, creating a clattering sound against his body.
"You bunch of useless fools!" Chen Dafu spat disdainfully. "With your pathetic little guns, you think you can take me down?"
He sneered and, with a fluid motion, performed a graceful side kick that destroyed an incoming rocket propelled grenade.
"Boom!"
Flames engulfed him, but a moment later, he emerged from the explosion, untouched.
Leaping off the wrecked missile vehicle, his eyes narrowed as he scowled at the soldiers hiding in the shadows.
"You rats think you can bomb Dantu City? Who gave you the courage?"
"Look at me well, because soon, you'll be reporting to Yama himself. I'll be the one who sends you there!"
As he cursed, gunfire continued, but Chen Dafu had had enough. He turned with a grunt and grabbed the missile vehicle behind him. With a mighty roar, he lifted it above his head.
"Ugh!"
The heavy missile vehicle was hoisted effortlessly, its weight hardly seeming to register with him.
The scene was absurd and awe-inspiring. The soldiers, unable to comprehend what they were seeing, stood frozen in disbelief, their eyes wide.
Such strength from a mere human! Clearly, this was a man born with extraordinary abilities. He was, without question, the luckiest person of this era.
"Want to fight?" Chen Dafu shouted. "Fine, I'll play along!"
He threw the missile vehicle into the darkness with a deafening crash, followed by screams and the unmistakable scent of blood.
"Ha, how do you like your own missile vehicles now?" He grinned, as though savoring the chaos, ignoring the bullets still flying toward him.
But then his eyes suddenly sharpened. Something caught his attention.
He saw a young man in sportswear, about seventeen or eighteen, standing beside the next missile vehicle. The boy had neatly cropped hair, and his face still bore the remnants of youthful innocence and a radiant smile.
"I know you. You're Chen Dafu, right?" The boy waved and then patted his chest. "I'm Xu Ka, a hacker. It's a pleasure to meet you."
His smile was warm, but his gaze held a strange, unsettling familiarity.
"I know you?" Chen Dafu was instantly on guard. His hand moved instinctively, drawing a black short knife.
Suddenly, the gunfire stopped. The red tracer round vanished, and the mist began to settle back in. The area around him was eerily quiet, and Chen Dafu felt something was off.
"You don't know me, but I know you," Xu Ka said, tilting his head. "My boss says you're really strong. A tough enemy."
Xu Ka paused, then added with an almost apologetic tone, "He says… we need to eliminate you to complete his grand plan."
"You think you can?" Chen Dafu sneered, his body tensing.
But before he could strike, a figure appeared behind Xu Ka—an imposing man standing over two meters tall. His broad body, bulging with muscle, dwarfed Chen Dafu's own massive frame. His expression was calm, his eyes locked onto Chen Dafu's with unyielding confidence.
"I'm Li Boyun," the man announced, his voice cold and steady. "SS-level fighter from Shencheng. I'm here to fight you."
Chen Dafu's muscles tightened as he met the man's gaze. A deep sense of pressure began to build. This man was no ordinary opponent.
"This is a trap," Mike's voice crackled in Chen Dafu's ear. "Destroy the missile vehicles and protect yourself. Don't underestimate them. Reinforcements are on the way."
Chen Dafu nodded, his focus never leaving Li Boyun. The reality of the situation set in—he was facing an opponent who matched his strength.
"Your talent?" Chen Dafu asked, eyes narrowed.
"Kill and Break," Li Boyun said calmly. "The more I fight, the stronger I become."
He stepped forward. "My master sent us to kill you. Today, you die. And the woman who plotted against you too."
"Shencheng's reach is long," Chen Dafu muttered. "Killing me won't be easy. I'm invincible at my level."
But before he could finish, the ground exploded beneath his feet, and a figure—graceful yet lethal—appeared from the shadows. She was stunning, her hair flowing like waves, a knife twirling in her fingers as she gave him a seductive smile.
"Such strength," she purred, her voice like honey laced with venom. "I wonder if your blood is as red as everyone else's."
A chill ran down Chen Dafu's spine. She radiated an aura stronger than even Li Boyun's.
"She's SS-level too!" Mike warned urgently. "Her ability is 'Shadow Dance.' It's enhanced by the third apocalypse environment, making her even deadlier."
As Chen Dafu prepared for battle, Xu Ka piped up, grinning. "By the way, I'm a hacker. I can block any skill lower than my level. Including that annoying voice in your head."
Chen Dafu's heart sank as Mike's voice was abruptly cut off. He tried to use his communication skill, but it failed.
"Three SS-level opponents," Mike seethed, his voice filled with cold rage. "This is bad. These guys are all top-tier, and they work together like a well-oiled machine."
Chen Dafu couldn't help but smirk. "You think you're clever? Let's see if you can take me down."
