Once upon a time, the underworld and the upper world were one – both were under the protection of the gods in the heavens. However, everything changed when the "Sword of Salvation", the core bond between the heavens and the earth, was stolen.

Over a millennium later, the name "Sword of Salvation" resurfaced. Every century, one chosen individual carried the sword on their back or waist. They traveled from one land to another to find the missing pieces of the sword and complete it. However, for thousands of years, no one succeeded in restoring the "Sword of Salvation" to its original state – all of them failed to restore the world.

Nearly three hours later, Mariel and the two women accompanying him finally reached the 278th floor. Julia immediately collapsed, breathing heavily. Sean was the same, though she was in slightly better condition. Sweat covered their fair skin, especially Julia's. They were quite exhausted.

"You both need to train your bodies more," Mariel commented, sitting down opposite of them. "If you were to become—"

Mariel abruptly stopped speaking and looked up. Sean also instinctively sat down. The thudding sound that shook the ceiling and stairs came from the top floor of the tower. However, Mariel was not too surprised. This only confirmed that one of his two assumptions had been correct.

"Sean, don't take your eyes off Julia. We don't want her being taken hostage."

Seeing Sean nod, Mariel stood up again and immediately climbed the stairs.
