Bringing a Gun to a Fist Fight

"You should cut down on your Instagram." Daniel commented casually as he glanced at Alice's phone.

"And then do what?" Alice looked up at him from within his arms.

"Just saying." He gave a wry smile.

The two were seating on one of the benches along the streets, flanked by a few lecture halls.

It was currently the Mid-Semester break, so there weren't many people around.

"You do know that tests begin in two weeks." He reminded Alice.

She sighed.

"You do know that you just ruined my mood."

He laughed a bit.

"It's not funny." She said, exasperated.

"It's literally not that serious, if you could just read."

"Ok oh. If you say so."

As they both went back to their phones, a group of guys passing by whistled.

"This your girl sharp oh." One of them jeered at Daniel.

Alice frowned slightly, but didn't reply, while Daniel just glanced over causally.

"Thanks for the compliment."

They chuckled and continued on their way.

"You shouldn't have replied them."

Alice finally looked up and said.

"What? Not replying to a compliment would be rude." He raised his eyebrows slightly.

Alice looked left and right before whispering into his ear.

"The one that spoke just now, I heard he's a cultist."

Daniel paused for a moment.

"Hahahaha!..."

He laughed for a bit, even tearing up, while Alice looked at him with a wronged expression.

"Haa, sorry. I really can't help it." He stopped and chuckled again.

"And you just so happened to be aware?" He teased.

"It's true. One of my friends told me."

"She told you that she saw that exact guy engaged in cult activities with her own eyes."

"Umm, well..." She tried to explain, but finally got his point.

"I thought so." He shook his head with a smile.

"Why don't we just enjoy the moment, and not focus on who may or may not be a cultist."

Alice nodded, and sank back into his embrace.

After about half an hour, Alice went back to her hostel.

Daniel had some groceries to buy though, and went to buy it outside North Gate, the main entrance.

As he was coming back though, he decided to walk to his hostel instead of entering a Keke, taking it as an opportunity to test Fortuna's Dominion on random things.

And that right there, was his mistake...

Or should we say genius.

Because he did get to test Fortuna's Dominion, just not in the way he thought he would.

Remember those guys from earlier?

Well, they spotted Daniel again. This time with groceries on either hand.

As you can guess, they decided to 'greet' him, all five of them.

"How far?" One of them shook his hand, while the others spread out, subtly surrounding him.

'Ah shi...'

"I'm good. Wetin sup G?"

He probed, trying to gauge their intentions instead of just concluding they were bad.

"Nothing much, You can call me Shamo. I just observe sey you no buy something for us." The one who called himself Shamo continued, then glanced at the phone in Daniel's hand.

"You dey even use iPhone sef. You be hot boy oh."

Daniel sighed, and looked around at the secluded area that he had chosen to walk himself.

He felt a wierd sense of irony.

'I can control Probability, but I'm still controlled by it.'

"Look, let's not mince words." He set his grocery bags gently on the ground.

"What is it you want?"

They burst into slight laughter.

"Shey you never catch scope ni?"

Shamo smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.

"Give us something for the weekend. That your watch is a good start."

He came closer, reaching for the watch, but he was greeted by something else.

*BAM*

He fell backward on his butt, holding his bleeding nose, while Daniel retracted his fist.

He murmured;

"Those kick boxing classes weren't just for show."

The first thing that surfaced in Shamo's eyes was shock, before it was consumed by rage.

The other guys didn't even waste time, jumping Daniel instantly.

His training didn't encompass fighting large groups, but battle IQ is sometimes more important than fighting skills, and Daniel had an abundance of that.

The surrounding terrain was relatively flat, surrounded by bushes - it was a backdoor pathway within FUTA, with barely any buildings around, but he could still work with that.

Tending his body, he judged the weakest member of the group in a split second and bolted towards him, knocking him out with a flying kick and breaking out of the encirclement.

'One down, Four to go.'

The others obviously paused, surprised at his competence, but that gave Daniel another opportunity.

Advance, cock fist, attack.

*BAM*

A blow to the right temple sent another one reeling with a concussion, his eyes rolling back.

The events seemed to take long, but in reality it has been less than six seconds since Shamo had been punched, and he had just stood up.

The others didn't attack Daniel again and instead stood at a certain distance.

'Goons are smarter than what movies make them out to be.'

"If for sey you no attack me, I would have invited you into my cult." Shamo glowered, then lowered his hand from his nose, pulling out something from inside his jacket.

Daniel's pupils shrunk rapidly when he saw what it was.

A gun!

"But now that you have disrespected Shamo, captain of The Blood Brotherhood..."

His yelling concentrated into a whisper,

"Go to Hell."

*BANG*

NAME: Fortuna's Dominion - The ability to alter and control the probability of events. This power enables the manipulation of outcomes across most, if not all domains.

- ABILITY CLASSIFICATION: Reality Manipulation – Type VII(Probabilistic Tier)

- THREAT LEVEL: Potentially Omega

- RANGE OF EFFECT:

Personal: Influences outcomes affecting the wielder directly.

Localized: Alters probabilities affecting others within the user's line of sight.

Global: Unexplored

- LIMITATIONS:Energy Dependency: Classifying Energy into units, with a total of 134 Units in the Energy Pool.

Probabilities above 90% consume 10 Energy Units, Probabilities between 50% and 90% consume 30 Energy Units, while Probabilities, between 10% and 50% consumes 60 Energy Units. Lower probabilities haven't been explored due to insufficient Energy.

Energy Units can be replenished at the rate of 1 per second, and 1 Energy Unit is added after each use.

Failsafe Threshold: Some Universal Constants including but not limited to the laws of physics may resist permanent change.

- ACTIVATION METHOD: The wielder must focus on a desired outcome, at which point the mental projection of the words [$π•¥] will automatically flicker and the ability will be activated.

: There is a mental time dilation effect of 10:1 when using the ability.
