Chapter 5

Seated on the airplane, gazing out at the layered white clouds, my heart felt exceptionally calm.

Reflecting on the bits and pieces of my time in this city, it all seemed laughable and absurd.

I still remembered the scene from my wedding day with Jaxon, when he abandoned me and left.

We had known each other since childhood, betrothed due to our mothers being best friends.

That day, I stood in the center of the chapel, wearing a pristine white wedding gown, holding a bouquet of vibrant, blooming flowers, my heart full of joy.

However, just as the pastor asked that question.

"Do you willing to take this woman to be your wife?" Jaxon's phone suddenly rang.

He merely glanced at the screen, his face instantly turning pale. Without hesitation, he turned and bolted out of the chapel, never looking back.

I knew it was a message from Melody, so I didn't try to stop him at all.

Because I knew Jaxon wouldn't choose me.
