Chapter 8

This room was once my mother's.

After she passed away, it became mine alone.

After putting my clothes in the closet, I lay down on the bed.

It had been so long since I felt this peace, I dozed off without realizing it.

I had a dream where Jaxon and Garrison were trying to throw me into an icy crevasse because of Melody.

I ran for my life, but I couldn't escape no matter how hard I tried.

The scene suddenly changed, and Garrison was on his knees crying.

"Meadow! I was wrong! I was wrong!"

I woke with a start to find a little girl sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Who are you?"

She looked at me and smiled, her dimples especially sweet.

"Pretty auntie, my dad asked me to come get you for the meeting room."

Looking into her bright sparkling eyes, I couldn't resist pinching her chubby little cheeks.

"Thank you, sweetie. Auntie understands."

She ran off happily.

In Antarctica, the sun only rises and sets once a year, so it's hard to keep track of time.
