In his opinion, learning one of the Six Powers was a sensible decision, but Bill also learned from his nanny that studying one of the Six Powers was somewhat of a trap.
The issue was that Marines who mastered one of the Six Powers were usually transferred to more dangerous zones, where they naturally sought to master another technique for survival.
The "trap" was that there was no need for an extended contract to learn two of the Six Powers. If a Marine wanted, they were given access to all the techniques, but they could never leave the organization until "natural" retirement.
If a Marine had a family, it was provided for. After all, most Marines were the children of Marines, and from the World Government's perspective, familial relationships among the servicemen were not frowned upon.
In light of this, Bill considered the Shaving Technique the most useful to avoid falling into such circumstances.
The Moonwalk Technique could not be underestimated, but for swordsmen and marksmen, direct speed likely suited them better than the zigzag style of the Moonwalk Technique.
For those in hand-to-hand combat, in Bill's opinion, there was no competition. The Moonwalk Technique was unrivaled.
Closing the newspaper, the last thing Bill read was that groups of children committing robberies turned out to be a pirate group. There weren't many details, but now these children, seen on several islands, were wanted.
Looking around the deck, Bill noticed how the Marines were performing various tasks. On board a Marine warship, everything was done professionally.
These ships carried many people because there were three shifts. Outside of battle, the Marines had eight hours on duty, followed by sixteen hours of rest—such was the life of a man at sea.
The night shift was the smallest, since the Marines were raising the sails. Interestingly, even so, the ship continued moving forward at a constant speed thanks to its sea stone lining.
Setting aside these thoughts, when Bill grew tired of training in the Moonwalk Technique, he lifted weights. Although the heaviest load on military ships weighed a thousand kilograms, Bill could precisely control which muscles he was exercising.
Thinking about what he planned to do today, Bill turned his head and glanced into the distance one last time.
So far, they had encountered two pirate ships, but only one had come close enough. He was ready to help, but Captain Hina was so strong that it wasn't even a question.
After this encounter, he learned that she had a Devil Fruit. It was the perfect tool, given her responsibilities.
Using her ability along with the Shaving Technique, the pirate crew didn't have a chance. Although the thought to call her the "binding" woman crossed his mind, he decided not to joke about it.
Despite her habit of occasionally referring to herself in the third person, she had quite a reserved nature.
Another unpleasant fact was that all the men in her crew seemed to be in love with the Captain, but she did not reciprocate, and he didn't want to give them any ideas.
Shaking his head, Bill didn't see anything in the distance and so went down to the training area.
Seeing Marron swinging her cleaver, Bill shook his head. He told her that, in his opinion, she should train in stabbing techniques, but old habits are hard to break.
Seeing him, she quickly transitioned to awkward stabbing motions, although Bill thought that if she ever learned to throw her strikes, perhaps the length of the blade wouldn't matter anymore.
This world had roughly the same physics as his previous one, but one major difference became apparent when he picked up a long barbell with three thousand-kilogram weights on the other end.
Lifting roughly fifteen hundred pounds with one extended hand, if this were on Earth, he would have fallen. But in this world, if he didn't want to fall, he simply willed himself not to.
Slowly lifting and lowering the weight, Bill began to meditate. Focusing on his forearm, shoulder, and legs, he concentrated on what he wanted to strengthen.
When Bill first did this, it caused a stir on the ship. It was clear that the thousand-ton weights were more for inspiration than practical use.
It seemed that although monstrously strong people existed in this world, there were not enough of them to be seen regularly.
This earned him respect among both the new recruits of the Marines' Scientific Division and the Marines on board.
Finishing with one arm, Bill moved to the other, and then worked on his legs. Having mastered the Return of Life, he no longer needed rest days and never skipped leg day.
He had seen too many strong people with pitifully small legs. It seemed their bodies "consumed" their legs, adding mass to their torsos and arms.
Bill rejected having "childish" legs, so he worked diligently.
After completing his workout, Bill waved to the others in the room and went to grab something to eat.
On his way to the dining hall, he heard some noise on the main deck.
Raising an eyebrow, Bill shook his head, took two loaves of bread, and started to head up.
