Aria's Last Trial

Her mark blazing as she pressed on, she tightened her teeth. "I have heard worse." You won't break me.

Aria approached the mirror at the end of the road, its water-like rippling changed to show her doubts and fears.

The individual arrived besides her; their voice was kind yet sharp. This is the restless, flawed, inadequate person you are.

Though the questions threatened to overwhelm her, Aria glimpsed the mirror as her heart pounded once more—a constant among the tempests.

Her voice quiet, she said, "No. That is not all I am. My flaws make me strong. I am worthy as I aim for qualities that really count. And I won let anybody else or you take it off.

The mirror cracked, the pieces floating in light. The individual back off, their form wavering.
