The criminal was fully aware of the crimes he had committed. There was no need for a trial—he was undoubtedly facing the death penalty. He didn't want to die, and now, it seemed as though he had been given a glimmer of hope for survival.
Not far from his feet were three Poké Balls—they were his hope.
These Poké Balls belonged to the security personnel. Although they were locked, they didn't have the additional protective mechanism that the passengers' Poké Balls had.
The criminal walked toward the three Poké Balls, but just as he was about to touch them, he felt his ankle being grabbed.
He turned his head and saw that the officer from the inspection bureau was clinging tightly to his foot, while his other hand was reaching for his waist.
There was a gun there.
Seeing this, the criminal immediately kicked the officer in the head, knocking him unconscious. He then took the handgun from the officer's waist.
Bang!
A flash burst from the barrel, accompanied by the terrified screams of the passengers.
The second security officer, who had just begun to stand, was shot in the chest.
"Ahhh!!"
The scene before them, along with the gunshot, threw the entire economy cabin into chaos.
"Shut up, all of you, or I'll kill him!"
The criminal's shrill voice was filled with rage. He pointed the gun at a passenger while using his other hand to search the officer's body. It didn't take long before he found the keys.
The passengers instinctively covered their mouths, staring at the criminal in terror.
The criminal unlocked his handcuffs, and picked up the three Poké Balls from the ground.
There were a total of four security officers on the plane—two in economy class and two in first class.
Everything in the economy cabin had happened so quickly that by the time the flight attendant realized what was going on, the criminal had already freed himself from the handcuffs and taken the three Poké Balls.
The flight attendant immediately alerted the captain and the two security officers in first class.
But it was already too late.
By the time the two remaining security officers rushed over, the criminal had already released one of the Pokémon from its Poké Ball.
It was a Golem.
Upon seeing that the criminal was not its Trainer, Golem naturally refused to obey his commands. However, in the next second, the criminal pointed his gun at the unconscious security officer's head.
"If you don't want your Trainer to die, you'd better do as I say," the criminal sneered.
Then, he turned to the two security officers who had just arrived. "You two, don't move. Otherwise, I'll have Golem use Explosion, and none of us will leave here alive."
"You don't want to die, do you?"
He then shifted his gaze to the passengers. "If you want to live, keep an eye on these two and make sure they don't do anything stupid."
Golem, seeing its Trainer in the criminal's grasp, dared not make any sudden moves. In fact, it had no choice but to obey the criminal's orders.
The passengers were utterly terrified. The criminal was a desperate man with nothing to lose, but they weren't—they had families and friends. Under the threat of death, most of the passengers anxiously turned their eyes toward the two remaining security officers.
In the cockpit, the captain had already lifted the restriction on the Poké Balls, allowing the passengers to release their Pokémon. If things went south, some of them might have a chance to survive.
However, to avoid provoking the criminal, he didn't broadcast it.
"Give me any Flying-type Pokémon that can carry people," the criminal barked at the two security officers.
The security personnel on the plane were bound to have Flying-type Pokémon with them, and they were likely to be of a fairly high level.
The officers hesitated.
Bang!
The criminal fired a shot, hitting the leg of a hapless passenger.
"Give it to me, or next time it won't be his leg!" the criminal roared.
"Alright, alright! Don't do anything crazy!"
Hearing the passenger's screams, one of the security officers quickly nodded. He reached for a Poké Ball on his waist, tossed it over, and said, "This is a Pidgeot."
In the first-class cabin, the soundproofing was excellent, so Julian hadn't heard the gunshots at first. It wasn't until he sensed a surge of panic and fear through his Aura emanating from the economy cabin that he realized something was wrong.
The flight attendant's expression also became extremely unnatural. Instead of shooting him flirtatious glances like before, she now wore a look of alarm.
"Go check on the economy cabin," Julian said calmly.
"Gen~!"
Just as the criminal was about to catch the Poké Ball thrown by the security officer, a white Gengar suddenly appeared right in front of him.
"Ghehee~"
Grinning mischievously, Gengar gazed at him with a sinister smile.
A powerful wave of Hypnosis washed over the criminal, leaving him completely defenseless. His eyes shut, and he fell into a deep sleep instantly.
"Ghehe~."
After subduing the criminal, Gengar vanished from the spot.
Its appearance and disappearance took less than five seconds—so quick and seamless that it was as if it had never been there at all.
If not for the criminal now lying on the ground, the security officers and passengers might have doubted whether they had imagined it.
The flight attendants, who were trained in emergency medical care, quickly stepped in. With the basic medication available on the plane, they managed to stop the bleeding from the wounded passenger's leg.
The security officer who had been shot in the chest was relatively lucky—the bullet hadn't hit any vital organs. After receiving immediate treatment, his bleeding was also brought under control.
The criminal was completely restrained, and the crisis was finally resolved.
All the passengers let out a collective sigh of relief. At this moment, the plane also emerged from the turbulence, and the once-unstable aircraft finally leveled out.
"Whose white Gengar was that just now?"
"As far as I know, in Drakoria, only King Julian has a white Gengar."
"You're saying King Julian is on this plane?"
"King Julian's home is in Lake City, and this plane is heading there. It's very possible."
The passengers were abuzz with speculation, trying to guess who owned the white Gengar. Many of them had already come to the same conclusion.
The captain had informed the airport about the incident, so when the plane landed at Lake City Airport, several medical staff and high-ranking inspection personnel were already waiting.
"Young Master Walker, we can't thank you enough. Without you, the hundreds of passengers and our entire crew might have been in grave danger," the airport manager said, shaking Julian's hand tightly. His face was filled with relief and gratitude.
"It was nothing," Julian replied calmly.
Politely declining the airport staff's arrangements, Julian quickly made his way out. He had already spotted a group of reporters rushing toward him.
At the arrival gate, Tina and Love had been waiting for him for half an hour. It didn't take long before Tina spotted a familiar figure. She waved enthusiastically and called out, "Julian, over here!"
"Mom! Love!"
Julian waved back at them.
In the car, a Machoke was behind the wheel, driving steadily. Love sat in the front passenger seat, while Julian and Tina were in the back.
"Thank goodness you were there. Otherwise, things could've turned into a real disaster."
Tina had already heard about what had happened on the plane, and she couldn't help but feel proud of her son.
However, Julian didn't share the same sense of relief. He couldn't shake the feeling that the incident on the plane might have had something to do with him.
Had his bad luck really gotten so powerful that it could affect an entire plane of people?
"What's wrong? You look a bit pale," Tina asked.
"It's nothing."
Julian shook his head, trying to cast the absurd thought from his mind.
What was he even thinking? His luck couldn't possibly be that bad. There must have been some other jinx on the plane—it couldn't have been him… right?
