chapter 16

The main hall was silent. Not due to a lack of noise, but because of the absence of movement. Jigen was still there, exactly where Obito had left him. The distorted energy of Kamui still lingered in the air—a residue only those sensitive to chakra could perceive.

Obito had challenged him… again.

Jigen narrowed his eyes. He could feel the power radiating from that new body. This wasn't the same Obito the old records described. He was something else now. Colder. More ruthless. More dangerous.

And now, Boro… was dead.

It wasn't a great emotional loss. Boro had always been unstable, fanatical, hard to control. But he was useful. His body, his regeneration, his resilience… had been key in many missions. That Obito had eliminated him so quickly, without even using his full power, was a warning.

No… a declaration.

Jigen turned and left the hall. He walked down the corridors until he reached one of the deepest laboratories in the base. Amado was already there, watching multiple screens displaying Boro's fight on repeat.

"You saw everything, I assume," Jigen said bluntly.

Amado didn't take his eyes off the data.

"Every slash. Every movement from the Limbo. Fascinating technique, by the way… completely undetectable to our sensors."

Jigen crossed his arms.

"Can you regenerate Boro?"

Amado made a face, thinking.

"His core was destroyed, yes… but technically, not all his genetic material was annihilated. The body collapsed, but I have enough stored data to reconstruct him. He won't be exactly the same, of course… his memories might be partially lost. But functionally, yes: I can bring him back."

"Do it."

Amado finally looked at him.

"Are you sure? Obito took him out like it was nothing. Is it worth bringing a soldier like that back?"

Jigen was silent for a few seconds. Then he spoke in a low but firm voice.

"I want Obito to understand that no one in Kara dies that easily. If he wants to crush pieces off the board, he should know they'll rise again."

Amado gave a faint smile.

"Then… we'll make Boro stronger."

He turned back to the screens as a new series of codes began to appear on the monitors. Genetic data. Bio-structure. Internal core.

Jigen turned and left without another word.

But in his mind, a single image remained: Obito's eyes. That Sharingan, those Rinnegan. And the veiled threat left hanging in the air.

Amado entered the biological containment area. The lab reeked of ash, molten metal, and dried blood. On a reinforced table lay the remains of Boro… or what was left of him.

Chunks of shredded flesh, fragments of still-bleeding bone, and parts of his cracked protective core. This hadn't been a clean execution. It had been a massacre—like every blow Obito delivered carried years of pent-up hatred.

"He tore him apart… like he despised every cell of his existence," Amado muttered, examining the remains with a serious expression.

Several robotic arms activated instantly, slowly collecting the larger pieces, while microscopic drones began mapping the genetic residue. Every muscle fiber was torn. The internal protection plates were crushed. Even the regenerative core, which normally withstood nearly anything, was punctured and shattered.

"He didn't do this to win… he did it to send a message," Amado said in a lower voice.

He pulled a special capsule from his belt and placed it on the table. Inside, Boro's neural backup vibrated faintly—a partial copy of his consciousness prepared as a safety protocol.

"Thankfully… your fanaticism didn't stop you from following my automatic backup instructions."

Amado inserted the chip into a console. The interface lit up immediately.

"Perfect. More aggressive than before—just what we'll need."

Several cylinders began to fill with a dark liquid. In one of them, a new body began to form, more muscular, reinforced with adaptive biotechnology. This time, the core would be hidden between moving layers, surrounded by a defense system that would activate at the slightest change in pressure or external energy.

"You won't be the same Boro. This time… you'll be a monster built to survive even the hatred of a Uchiha."

As he watched the new body take shape, Amado turned to his personal screen. It displayed an incomplete schematic: "Obito Response Protocol – Stage 2."

"If he wants to destroy us… he'll have to do it many more times."

And with that, the scientist kept working. The echo of Obito's slashes still lingered in the walls like a warning—but for Amado, it was only the beginning of a new experiment.
