Shadows Of Betrayal

For a moment, everything stood still. The forest was quiet, save for the fading echoes of the explosion. Andrew stood at the edge of the clearing, his silhouette illuminated by the faint moonlight. His appearance was as disheveled as ever, but there was a cold determination in his eyes that set Lena’s nerves on edge.

“Andrew,” Ethan repeated, lowering his weapon slightly. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Andrew took a step forward, his gaze sweeping over them. “Saving your lives, apparently. You’re welcome.”

“Saving us?” Lena’s voice was laced with disbelief. “You disappeared when we needed you most!”

Andrew’s smirk didn’t falter, but his eyes softened as they met hers. “I didn’t disappear, Lena. I’ve been working behind the scenes. You think that explosion just happened by chance?”

Ethan moved in front of her, his stance protective. “You expect us to believe this wasn’t part of some bigger game you’re playing? You’ve always had your own agenda.”
