Alina

My cheeks were hurting from all the smiling I had done for the night and decided to take a break. Gosh, this woman could hardly get tired, and unfortunately for Thoedore's sake, I had to put up with her. I had finally learned that the party was to acknowledge their 30th wedding anniversary, so I congratulated her. She introduced me to a number of her friends, including the wives of some important business men and influential people I gave no two shits about.

Finally, she introduced me to her son, Nathan. So that was the person Mr.Summers had mentioned earlier. He was one fine man with an alluring personality, but by the way he was smirking all the time, and trying to flirt with me, even after knowing I was a freaking married woman, there was no doubt he was a playboy.

Soft music started paying and the irritating man opened his mouth to speak. “Care to have this dance?” Fuck. I really wished Mrs. Summers had not left me alone with him!

“No actually. I can't really dance. Apologies.”

“That's not a problem. I'm a professional at this. And who knows, you might finally learn if you have the right guidance?” Why the hell was he so persistent when I literally gave him a straight answer?

I was about to politely decline when an arm roughly snaked around my waist and pulled me into a hard chest. “What's going on here?” Theodore's velvety, hard voice filled my ears, making goosebumps rise on my skin.

“Ah. If it isn't Theodore Maxwell. Done flattering my parents?” Theodore said nothing, to which I glanced up at him. And the sight made me wish I hadn't. His jaw was clenched, and if a glare could kill, then Nathan would have been six feet under by now.

“Done hitting on my wife?” He laid extra emphasis on the word wife, which almost made me imagine he was jealous. But nah. This was Theodore Maxwell we were talking about. He just cares about his reputation, that's all.

“Huh, since when do you care about relations?” Nathan scoffed.

“This is going to be my first and last warning to you. Stay the fuck away from my matters, especially from my wife. Otherwise it won't end well for you,” his voice was so low, it felt lethal coming out of his lips.

With that, he pulled me away from the leech and took me to a more secluded corridor. The instant we were alone, he lashed out.

“What the fuck is wrong with you? The heck are you doing, mingling with that bastard?” Fire burned in his eyes as I stood gaping at him.

“I didn't do anything. Mrs. Summers left me with him.”

“Well then you should have left him and found someone else!”

“I was trying but the leech wouldn't let me. I didn't want to make a scene and create problems for your reputation!” I exclaimed, having enough of him.

He closed his eyes and balled his fists, taking in a deep breath to probably calm himself down. “Fuck!” He cursed under his breath. Finally opening his eyes back, he looked into mine. “I still have a few important people to meet and discuss business. Alina, I'm warning you, I better not find you around him or any other guy! I don't want the headline tomorrow saying The Billionaire’s wife getting too cozy with his business colleagues!

Was he kidding me? The fuck does he think of himself? I opened my mouth to give him a piece of my mind, but he marched away before I could.

This was the most fucking exhausting party I've ever been to. So, the first opportunity I got to get myself away from people, I grabbed it. I huffed, standing against the railing on the open terrace attached to the hall, and finally gave myself a break. Thankfully, it was a little away from the main hall, in a more secluded place, so I couldn't hear the murmurs of people.

Taking a sip from the drink I had grabbed earlier, I closed my eyes and enjoyed the soft breeze blowing against my skin. Peace, finally. I was finally starting to enjoy myself, when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around to see who it was.

Give me a fucking break! I thought as I saw the person's face.

“Done with your husband already?” I simply ignored him and turned back to face the sky. “I know it's really hard to put up with his shit.”

“Could you just leave me alone, Nathan? Please? My social battery is dead, so I'm not in the mood,” I turned to look at him, only to flinch as he was standing very close to me. Like right behind. And his face was literally just inches away from me.

I caught the whiff of alcohol from him, and by the way his words slurred, I knew he was drunk. Fate really isn't on my side today.

“Why the fuck does he always get lucky?” I was confused at what he was even implying? Whatever animosity Theodore had towards Nathan, I didn't want to be a part of it. “First my parents, and now a wife like you.” A wife like me? What did he even mean?

“It's getting late. I'll have to go,” whatever he was on about, I had no time for it. Neither was I interested. I pushed past him but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back, pinning me against the railing. I gasped at the sudden impact.

“But the night has just started. I won't make you regret spending time with me. Promise,” he smirked. And then, he started forcing himself on me. He was literally trying to kiss me! While I fought to push him back.

“What the fuck? Get off me!” I screamed, pushing him away, at the same time twisting to get out of his tight grip.

Suddenly, he was pulled off of me as I heard a loud smack. Coming to my senses, I spotted Theodore firing a punch after another at Nathan's face.

“I warned you to stay the fuck away! You never listen, do you?” Punch. He grabbed his collar and landed another blow on him.

“Theodore stop!” I could literally see blood oozing out of Nathan's nose. My eyes fell on Theodore's hands and saw his knuckles were ripped and bleeding as well. It was probably due to the impact of those hard rings that he was wearing.

“Theodore please, you'll kill him. People will hear us! We have to leave!” I tried reminding him of the damage this whole situation could do to his reputation. And I think it finally got into his brain because he dropped an unconscious Nathan to the floor, and turned to face me, his face seething in rage.

Uh oh.
