New foes

Thorne's sleep was fitful, pretty ironic as he didn't dream of anything but pitch black darkness.

He woke up to the sound of birds chirping, the mist-shrouded forest below him bathed in a faint, eerie light.

He stood up inside his make-shift shelter, his muscles aching from the previous day's battle. Thorne stretched his arms and legs, trying to shake off the fatigue.

He got out and instead of going down he went up far further than the mist could reach.

What greeted him was a vast plain. Contrary to what he thought about the misty forest which was that it encompassed the whole area. It in fact only covered a small section of an entire whole clearing up after a few dozen kilometres.

Revealing what seemed to be a large inky black tree far into the distance." That's the tree I'm looking for I suppose, pretty straightforward."

No first trial was meant to be to impossible having little to no possibility of death if you complete the given objective.

Looking down from his perch Thorne thought to himself ' pretty high huh?. Wonder if I could make it'. Shaking the thoughts off he began his descent back to his shelter.

Upon reaching the hole he called camp Thorne sat down in a lotus position.

Remembering the kill notification he tried to feel his whole body, his heart pumping blood, his lungs inhaling air, blood flowing through his veins and something else. Looking deeper he felt an unknown energy following the flow of his blood it was black in colour with a gray hue surrounding It.

He tried tugging at this energy mentally letting it coalesce to the palm of his hand. Opening his eyes he saw the energy condance into a dark sphere " Aethon ", Thorne said voicing his thoughts.

The sphere radiated pure, raw power if only that of a dormant. Trying to change the energy he gave it a mental command to turn into a cube and change it did. Wriggling and disorienting the ball change into a black cube structure subtly absorbing light from the surroundings.

After some more experimentation Thorne tried putting the substance on his sword. With the augmentation the sword became even darker, sharper, stronger and more rigid. Slashing the sword around,a trail of black energy following it

The substance no the "Aethon"all great and all drained quite the amount of energy. Thorne should know this best as he started to feel drained and sluggish.

"Guess it can't be used for too long".

Dispelling the energy construct and the Flower of darkness he sat down replenishing his spent energy.

Once his energy pool was full he made his way dow to the mist covered forest.

Making his way through the forest moving in the direction of the black tree,a familiar whispering entered his ears. Smiling he walked closer and closer to the whispering until a familiar ghastly wraith appeared in front of him. Getting ready to fight he drew his sword once again but this time he augmented the sword with Aethon.

A familiar black substance appeared in front of him before latching on to the sword making it as dark as the night contrasting with the occasional ray's of sunlight seeping through the mist.

With a lunge he swung his sword much faster and swifter than last time,he seem to be getting better at fighting.

"Screeeeech" the wraith let out as it was cut down.

The Gaunt Devoures stood tall, there emaciated bodies a mass of twisted, elongated limbs. There skin was deathly pale, pulled taut over threre skeletal frame like parchment stretched over a drum. There eyes glowed with an otherworldly energy, burning with an intense, malevolent hunger.

The creature's mouths were a twisted, lipless slits, filled with rows of razor-sharp teeth. There very presence seemed to fill the air with an unspeakable horror, as if it was a creatures were born from the very darkness itself.

The Gaunt Devourer's bodies seemed to shift and writhe, as if there were in constant motion. There limbs twisted and contorted in ways that seemed impossible for a living creature, giving them an unnatural, nightmarish appearance.

Thorne stood, his eyes locked onto the two Gaunt Devourers before him. The air was thick with tension, the mist-shrouded forest seeming to hold its breath in anticipation.

The two Devourers, their eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy, began to circle around Thorne. Their twisted, elongated limbs seemed to be shifting in constant motion.

Thorne's grip on his sword tightened, his heart racing with anticipation. He could feel Aethon's dark energy coursing through him, waiting to be unleashed.

The first Devourer, its gaze fixed on Thorne, unleashed its Devouring Gaze. Thorne raised his hand, and Aethon's dark energy surged forward, creating a shield of swirling, silver-black energy.

The gaze struck the shield, and Thorne felt a surge of pain as the energy washed over him. But the shield held firm, protecting Thorne from the worst of the attack.

The second Devourer, seizing the opportunity, summoned its Crawling Darkness. The dark, tendrils-like energy crawled across the ground, heading straight for Thorne.

Thorne leapt to the side, avoiding the tendrils by mere inches. As he landed, he swung his sword in a wide arc, striking the first Devourer with a powerful blow.

The Devourer stumbled backward, its twisted body reeling from the attack. Thorne took advantage of the opening, charging forward with a swift motion.

The second Devourer, its gaze now fixed on Thorne, unleashed its Devouring Gaze. But Thorne was ready, using Aethon's energy to augment his sword.

The sword seemed to grow darker, its blade absorbing surrounding light. Thorne leapt forward swinging the sword in a swift, deadly arc, striking the second Devourer with a blow that seemed to slice through its very soul.

The Devourer let out a deafening scream as it stumbled backward, its twisted body dissolving into nothingness.

The first Devourer, its eyes full of resentment fixated on Thorne, summoned its Crawling Darkness once more. But Thorne was ready, using Aethon's energy to augment his own speed and agility.

Thorne dodged and weaved, avoiding the tendrils with ease. As he moved, he struck the Devourer with swift, precise blows, each one aimed at its twisted, elongated limbs the other at it's piercing eyes.

The Devourer stumbled backward, its body reeling from the attacks. Thorne took advantage of the opening, striking the final blow with a swift, deadly motion.

The Devourer let out a deafening scream as it dissolved into nothingness, its twisted body disappearing into the mist-shrouded forest.

Thorne leaned on "the Flower of darkness" heathing for breath.
