Chapter 5: Insect Antics and Fire-Breathing Trouble

Mike had just finished munching on his flying insect meal when something flew overhead, casting a shadow on him. He looked up, and his heart sank. A much bigger insect, with wings that sparkled like they were made of glass, and flames dancing from its mouth, was circling.

"Seriously?" Mike groaned. "I was just starting to enjoy a peaceful moment!"

The fire-breathing insect swooped down, flames shooting out like a jetstream. Mike's instincts screamed at him to move, and he darted to the side, barely avoiding the fiery blast. He wasn't exactly the fastest, but that Quick Sprint skill of his came in handy just now.

"Okay, okay, calm down, Mike. You've got this," Mike muttered to himself, adjusting his stance. "It's just a giant fire-breathing bug. No big deal. I've had worse days."

The insect circled above him, and Mike could feel his energy draining. His Quick Sprint was still in cooldown, and there was no way he could outrun it. He'd have to outsmart it—again.

Just like those baby raptors, Mike thought. Focus, think.

He scanned the area, spotting a nearby tree. The insect, completely oblivious, hovered in midair, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Mike quickly dashed for the tree, using its trunk to shield himself.

The insect flew right past him, expecting him to be somewhere else. Taking his chance, Mike jumped out from behind the tree and snapped his jaws around the insect's weak underbelly. It squealed and fell to the ground with a thud.

Mike stood over the fire-breathing insect, panting. "Well... that wasn't as glamorous as I thought it would be," he said, wiping his mouth. "But hey, still counts as a win."

Mike took a moment to admire his new strength. "Level 3 Bite, huh? Yeah, that's more like it. I'm definitely getting better at this."

Looking at the fire-breathing insect's carcass, Mike added, "Man, I really need to work on my dramatic victory speeches. Maybe next time."

He chuckled at his own expense, realizing how far he'd come since his first attempts at catching lizards. The life of a baby dinosaur wasn't exactly glamorous, but it had its moments—especially when he could laugh at himself.
