Chapter 8

I didn't wait for Jaxon's proof, but I did receive a call from Mrs. Gevano.

"Vivienne, dear, we've all heard about what happened between you and Jaxon. He's just young and foolish, causing trouble without thinking."

"We've already given him a good scolding. As for the assets he transferred to Faye, we're working with lawyers to get them back. That vixen is no good—she's been up to no good since her teens, being a mistress and a homewrecker. God knows how many abortions she's had. She can't even have children anymore."

"I'd rather die than let a woman like that into the Gevano family..."

I hung up the phone impatiently and blocked this new number.

It's almost laughable. In both my previous life and this one, this is the nicest Mrs. Gevano has ever been to me.

In my previous life, Mrs. Gevano never gave me a kind look, even after I gave birth to my daughter.

She'd mock and criticize me while I was still in postpartum recovery, stressing me out so much that I developed mastitis.
