When Mom initially promised to bring me along and escape the next day, I never imagined she'd be found dead in the ditch by morning.
Everyone said she'd grown weary of this miserable life and taken her own life in the river.
I refused to believe it. My mother would never lie to me.
I don't know where I found the courage, but I flung the door open without hesitation.
"How did you find out where I live?"
I glared coldly at the man I had just shoved to the ground.
He'd aged considerably, looking weathered. His body wasn't as strong as before - my push had left him struggling to get up.
"Of course someone texted me your address. Looks like I'm not the only one who wants you dead." His revolting gaze raked over me, finally settling on my chest.
"My little girl's all grown up now, getting prettier by the day. Too bad you're not a virgin anymore, but you'll still fetch a good price."
