The first step

The next morning inside the Jeon mansion's kitchen, Lali was busy preparing breakfast for the family moving around with ease. She had her hair tied up in a messy bun and her focus was solely on the food she was cooking.

As she stirred a pot on the stove, Taeyang quietly entered the kitchen. He leaned against the door frame watching her with a sense of admiration. He liked the way she seemed so concentrated, her hands working deftly. After a moment, he stepped closer. "Good morning, Lali" he said softly. She turned to him her hands still busy.

"Good morning Taeyang. You must be very hungry. i'll be done very soon" He shook his head while still watching her. "No I'm okay. I was wondering if you'd like to sit with me in the garden later" Lali looked up a little surprised by the invitation. "Sure that sounds nice" she replied not thinking much of it. "What time were you thinking?" "How about after breakfast? I'll be there" Taeyang said, a smile breaking across his face. "Okay I'll see you then" she replied returning to her cooking as he stepped back still unable to take his eyes off her for a moment longer.

She continued not sensing anything unusual in his gaze. For Lali, it was just another day in the Jeon mansion and she was eager to keep things simple.

The Jeon family gathered around the long dining table as breakfast was served, and everyone took their seats. The room was filled with the quiet sounds of dishes and cutlery as they began their meal, with Lali ensuring each plate was perfectly set before joining them. A moment later, Mr. Jeon cleared his throat drawing everyone's attention. The conversations quieted and all eyes turned to him waiting for what he had to say. He looked around his expression both proud and serious.

"Today" he began, his voice calm yet commanding. "marks a turning point for our family. The Jeons have officially secured an exclusive deal with the largest trading corporation in East Asia. This partnership cements our position as the most powerful and wealthiest family in Korea. It's a feat that most only dream of." He paused, letting the significance of his words sink in, and cast a proud glance toward Gguk. "None of this would have been possible without Gguk's vision and dedication. He's led the negotiations from the start showing remarkable judgment and skill. Thanks to him, the name of the Jeons will be all over the news by tonight."

The two older brothers looked at each other with jealousy while their wives forced smiles. Lali's eyes widened in surprise and pride as she looked at Gguk who had a small smile on his face. At the same time, Taeyang's face turned tense when he saw how Lali smiled at Gguk feeling jealous inside. Elora placed her hand on Gguk's shoulder, her expression a mixture of pride and affection. "To celebrate this accomplishment and show the world just who the Jeons are, we'll be hosting a grand celebration tomorrow night at our auditorium" she announced her voice filled with excitement. "We want everyone to see the strength of this family. The powerful will be there, as well as our closest associates. It will be a night to remember."

Gguk gave a small nod trying to remain composed, though a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes. He was used to recognition but rarely sought it out. Nevertheless, this achievement meant a lot to him. After breakfast, When they got to their room, Lali jumped on Gguk immediately feeling excited and proud of him. Her sudden action surprised him, but he held her close. She smiled and said, "Congratulations! I've seen how hard you work for the family business" Gguk chuckled softly, his arms still around her. "Thanks Lali. It means a lot to hear you say that. I couldn't have done it you"

Lali raised an eyebrow, "Me? What did I do?" Gguk grinned and said, "It's your dessert. Every time I take a bite it's like magic. I get the best ideas for work" Lali laughed, her eyes sparkling. "So I'm like your good luck charm now?" "Absolutely" he said with a grin. As Lali and Gguk stood there, they suddenly became aware of their closeness. Their eyes locked and for a brief moment it felt like the world around them disappeared. Their lips were almost touching, the air around them becoming thick.

Just then a knock on the door startled them breaking the spell. "Come in!" Lali called out, her heart racing as she stepped back a little trying to regain her composure. The door opened and Taeyang stepped in with a casual smile. "Hey Lali. Just wanted to remind you about our plan to sit in the garden later." Lali returned his smile. "Oh yes! I'll be there" Taeyang nodded his expression friendly. "Great! See you then" He left the room and the door clicked shut behind him. Gguk frowned slightly, his tone low. "What was that about?" Lali shrugged trying to play it cool. "Just Taeyang inviting me to the garden" "I see" Gguk replied, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You're going to meet him alone?"

"Yes, just to talk" Lali said sensing the change in Gguk's mood. "It's nothing serious" Gguk's expression softened a bit but he still looked unsure. "Just... be careful, okay?" Lali smiled a little teasing. "I can take care of myself Gguk." "Yeah I know" he replied trying to hide a smile. "Just don't forget to come back soon i need help in choosing the best suit for tommorow night" Lali smiled, a little teasing. "I'll be back before you know it Gguk. And I'll help you look great" With that, she turned and left the room, her heart still fluttering from their earlier moment as she made her way to the garden.

When Lali reached the garden, she found Taeyang sitting on a bench under the shade of a large tree. He looked up and smiled when he saw her. "Lali come sit with me" he offered, patting the spot beside him. "Sure" Lali replied taking a seat. After a moment of silence Lali decided to ask, "Taeyang, were you also told not to fall in love with your future wife?" "No I wasn't" he replied.

Lali frowned, feeling curious. "Then why are they telling me not to fall for Gguk?" Taeyang shifted slightly, his expression serious. "You should obey them Lali. Just be Gguk's wife in name. Live your life how you want. There are other people out there who might be interested in you" he suggested, his voice low but filled with hope. "You deserve someone who can truly be there for you" Lali met his gaze sensing the deeper meaning behind his words.

"But I'm not looking for anyone else" she replied with certainty. "I just mean you have options. You shouldn't feel trapped in this situation. Gguk may be a part of your life but it doesn't have to define you. You can explore other paths" "I made a vow on the altar Taeyang, and am going to keep so is only Gguk for me in this life time" Taeyang's heart sank at her words. A flash of jealousy evident on his face. He fought to maintain his composure forcing a nod as he replied, "I understand Lali. Your commitment is admirable". Time skip,

The celebration was lively with guests filling the big hall. Black and gold decorations were everywhere showing off the Jeon family's wealth and power. Crystal lights hung from the ceiling, making the room look fancy and large flower pieces sat on each table catching everyone's eye. Reporters, photographers, and cameramen were spread around taking photos and writing notes.

They wanted to capture every moment to put in newspapers and show on TV. The Jeon family was already famous but tonight they looked even more important. Many guests from business owners to high officials had come to celebrate with the Jeons. Everyone admired the big success that Gguk had brought to the family. Soft music played in the background and waiters moved around serving wine and small snacks. The Jeon family walked proudly through the crowd talking to guests and sharing their happiness. It was clear that this night was all about them and they enjoyed every moment.

In their bedroom, Lali stood before a full-length mirror adjusting Gguk's tie with careful precision. He wore a tailored black suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and slim waist giving him an air of confidence and elegance.

His dark hair was neatly styled and his jawline looked sharp making him undeniably handsome. Lali's gaze was fixed on him, her heart fluttering as she took in how well he filled out the suit. She couldn't help but admire him, feeling a mix of pride and excitement. "You look amazing" she said with a smile on her face as she stepped back to admire her work.

"Thanks but I owe it all to you for making me look this good" Lali smiled, her eyes sparkling. "It's not my doing, you're just handsome to begin with" He chuckled, glancing at her. "Now your turn, i want to see what you're wearing for tonight" Lali shook her head trying to hide her smile. "You should go ahead. It's your day. Everyone is waiting for you. I'll join you there soon" "But I don't want to leave you" Gguk insisted his tone softening. "Seriously Gguk. I'll join you soon but you have to go. They need you out there" she urged gently. "Okay, okay" he said reluctantly, leaning in closer. "But only because it's my day"

She pressed a quick kiss on his cheeks, an unexpected momemt that sent thrill to both of them. "Now go" Lali said with a playful grin on her face as she gave him a gentle push. "I'll be there before you know it" Gguk nodded, stealing one last glance at her before stepping out and leaving Lali with a fluttering heart and a smile on her lips. Lali quickly got ready slipping into a simple but elegant dress that hugged her shape perfectly. Her makeup was light just enough to bring out her natural beauty and her hair was styled beautifully falling gracefully around her shoulders.

When she entered the auditorium, all eyes turned to her. Elora gasped softly though she quickly pulled herself together exchanging an uneasy glance with Kavin. The two older brothers looked shocked but tried to play it cool right after. Distant family members glanced at each other, clearly something going on in their minds and Lali caught all of it 'what is going on?' but she brushed it off and her eyes were searched for Gguk. When she found him, she saw the look on his face, he seemed completely captivated as if he was under a spell unable to look away from her. Taeyang standing in a corner was also taken aback, staring at her in silent awe.

Lali made her way through the crowd, feeling the weight of every gaze on her as she reached Gguk's side. Leaning close she whispered, "Am I too overdressed? Everyone is staring" Gguk's eyes still stuck. "No" he replied, his voice gentle. "you look more breathtaking" He paused, his voice dropping lower "Too beautiful" Though he meant to say it quietly, she heard every word, her cheeks warming in a deep blush. Her smile grew, lighting up her face and Gguk's heart skipped at the sight of her beautiful smile. Her beauty was almost overwhelming to him, leaving him silently awestruck.

Across the room, Elora, Kavin, and some of the family elders exchanged uneasy glances, tension in their eyes. One distant cousin leaned toward another and murmured, "She looks just like her. What if-" "Shut up Cynthia" Elora quickly interrupted, a sharp edge to her voice. "Don't bring that up" They remained silent and focused on the celebration. As the celebration continued, the grandeur of the Jeons' influence was felt in every corner of the room.

Guests admired their wealth and power. Some with awe, others with envy or quiet respect. Lali stayed close by Gguk's side mingling gracefully, engaging with guests who approached her elegance, a quiet but commanding presence. When the time came for dancing and drinking, marking the peak of the evening, Taeyang quickly moved toward Lali, extending his hand with a confident smile. "May I have this dance?" he asked, his gaze fixed on her with an admiration that didn't go unnoticed. But before Lali could reply, Gguk stepped forward, his hand gently but firmly resting on her lower back as he turned to his brother.

"Taeyang" he said smoothly, a hint of firmness in his voice, "we need to talk" Taeyang's hand dropped slightly as he met Gguk's steady gaze. He gave a small nod masking any trace of disappointment. "Of course," he replied, following Gguk a short distance away from Lali, his usual confidence slightly tempered by his brother's directness.

Taeyang: "What is it you wanted to talk about?"

Gguk: "It's about Lali. I've noticed the way you look at her. I know what you're thinking, but you can never have her. She's my wife"

Taeyang: "You're forgetting it's forbidden for both of us to be with her. You should be telling that to yourself"

Gguk: "I can't let anyone get in the way of my feelings for her"

Taeyang: "You're the one who should stick to your own advice. Our family will never allow you to have her, even if she is your wife"

Gguk: "I'll find a way to make it work"

Taeyang: "Good luck with that, but I won't back down either."

Gguk: "Stay away. She's mine" He walks away before Taeyang can say anything else. Gguk returns to the party and sees Lali

Lali: "Is everything okay?"

Gguk: "It is. Would you like to dance?"

Lali: "yeah ofcourse" she takes his hand and move to join the others on the dance floor and starts dancing.

Lali: "You were incredible tonight. Bringing that achievement to the family is amazing"

Gguk: "Thanks. But it's still a lot of pressure"

Lali: "I get that. Sometimes I feel like we're trapped by all the rules. It's so hard to breathe."

Gguk: "I know what you mean. I feel the weight of everyone's expectations, especially when it comes to love"

Lali: "Exactly! It's like we're not allowed to feel what we really feel"

Gguk: "And what do you feel?"

Lali: "I feel drawn to you Gguk. Is so powerful that I can't ignore it anymore. I really really like you and want to explore this feelings with you"

Gguk: (smiling) "I feel the same way. But the family"

Lali: "Forget about them for a moment. We shouldn't let anyone stop us. We can go to a hotel and have time for ourselves"

Gguk: (surprised) "A hotel? What do you mean?"

Lali: "Just you and me away from all this. We can be ourselves and do whatever we want"

Gguk: "Are you serious?"

Lali: "Yes. Meet me there in a while. We need this" She stops dancing and leaves the auditorium, leaving Gguk's heart racing at the thought of being alone with her.
