The dragon soared over Longhua Castle, its gold scales glinting in the morning light. Its huge wings moved the air, creating ripples in the clouds as it circled.
Below, the city was quiet and tense. People watched with a mix of fear and awe.
The creature's glowing red eyes swept over the palace roofs and towers, as if searching for something—or someone. Its breathing was slow and steady, a powerful hum that vibrated through the sky.
Then, without warning, it dove.
Its landing shook the ground. Dust and rubble exploded outwards as its claws gripped the stone courtyard on the highest part of the castle.
Nearby guards hesitated, their hands on their weapons, but no one dared to move.
The dragon exhaled, releasing a wave of heat that made the air shimmer. Its long, snake-like body coiled slightly, wings folding as it settled, watching the palace entrance.
It wasn't there to destroy. It was waiting.
