Chapter 24: Let Kamisato Ayaka Pass the Message to the Resistance Army

[Task Released: Resolve the war between Watatsumi Island and the Shogunate.]

Another task?

Su Ran glanced at the worried Kamisato Ayaka.

"Ayaka, you haven't been home for a while, right? General Raiden has recovered today. I'll give you a day off. Go home and see your family."

Once the dream machine is complete, everyone in Inazuma will enter the dream world. The war between Watatsumi Island and the Shogunate will no longer exist in reality because, within the dream, everything is provided. There will be no need to fight over resources and territories.

Over time, they won't even be able to distinguish between the dream and reality. But if things were resolved that easily, the play Su Ran had prepared wouldn't be very interesting.

Resistance was still necessary. When the traveler arrived in Inazuma and found the people immersed in dreams, unwilling to wake up, they might choose not to break the dream and liberate Inazuma. But with a rebellion in place, the traveler would have a reason to oppose the dream.

Who better to deliver this message to the rebels than Kamisato Ayaka? If anyone else tried, they might not have the same influence. But Ayaka had an impeccable reputation—one that the rebels would trust.

"Thank you, Lord Su Ran!"

Despite her resistance to his plans, Kamisato Ayaka didn't feel mistreated during her time in Tenshukaku. In fact, she had enjoyed her conversations with Su Ran and serving him. Unfortunately, his goals were too dangerous for the people of Inazuma.

After expressing her gratitude, Kamisato Ayaka quickly left, intending to inform her brother and the rebel leader, Sangonomiya Kokomi, of the situation.

No one seemed too surprised by Ayaka's sudden departure. She had stayed at Tenshukaku for quite some time. Kujo Sara, in particular, could understand her desire to go home. After all, as the eldest daughter of the Kamisato Clan, it wasn't easy to serve the gods for so many days.

However, Yae Miko was more suspicious of Ayaka's departure. Only a few people knew about the dream machine, and even Kujo Sara wasn't fully aware of it. So why did Su Ran send Ayaka away now, of all times? Going home to see her family? The excuse seemed too far-fetched.

As a god, did Su Ran really care so much about a mortal's feelings? And Ayaka hadn't shown any signs of missing her family—not a word or even a hint.

"This priestess also has many things to take care of at the Grand Narukami Shrine. It's late, and I should head back," Yae Miko said, trying to gauge Su Ran's intentions.

"Hehe~"

Su Ran stopped analyzing the Gnosis and turned to her. "Miko, don't be in such a rush. No matter how urgent your matters are, they'll be resolved in a week at the earliest or a month at the latest. There's no need to worry."

Yae Miko sighed and sat back down, realizing her test had already provided an answer. Kamisato Ayaka's departure definitely had a purpose.

That poor girl... she doesn't even know she's being used, Yae Miko thought.

"And besides, what's so fun at the Narukami Shrine? Why don't you stay and keep Xiaoying company?"

Lei Dianying: ...

Even if you added the ages of everyone present, they weren't as old as her. How could Su Ran call her "Xiaoying" like she was a child?

"That's right~ After all, Aying is just too cute," Yae Miko teased.

Despite reuniting with Lei Dianying, Yae Miko wasn't entirely pleased. Was she being held captive here? If she didn't have time to prepare a counterplan, Inazuma might truly be doomed. She could only hope that the resistance on Watatsumi Island would act soon.

But then, a thought struck her, freezing her expression.

Kamisato Ayaka went back with Su Ran's permission. She might share everything she learned here with the resistance. Is it possible that Su Ran intended for this to happen?

Sensing Yae Miko's realization, Su Ran grinned. Teasing a clever fox like her was far more fun than playing mind games alone.

"It seems you've figured it out, haven't you? If the rebels never knew the truth, how would they recognize that the dream isn't real once they're trapped in it?"

The rebels needed to know the truth, so they had a reason to resist. In the past, they fought against the Vision Hunt Decree and the Sakoku Decree. But now, Su Ran didn't believe their rebellion was solely about those issues. There was a deep-seated grudge between Watatsumi Island and the Shogunate.

"Rebels? What rebels?" Lei Dianying, who never actively followed outside affairs, asked, confused.

"They're the ones who oppose the Vision Hunt Decree and the Sakoku Decree. They've gathered on Watatsumi Island and formed a resistance force. The Shogunate army has been trying to suppress them," Kujo Sara explained, filling Lei Dianying in on the recent conflicts.

Her explanation only fueled Lei Dianying's dissatisfaction.

"Inazuma's eternity will not allow for any variables!" Lei Dianying declared, frustrated.

She had been meditating in the Plane of Euthymia, assuming that her puppet, the Raiden Shogun, could handle everything in the outside world. After all, the Shogun's power was equal to her own. Unless a demon-level threat appeared, there should have been no problems in Inazuma.

Su Ran's arrival had changed everything, leading to more self-awareness in the Shogun. Otherwise, there would have been no disruptions at all. Now, there was talk of a rebel army?

General, what have you been doing?

"The rebel army is just made up of ordinary people. Kujo Takayuki assured me that they wouldn't pose any real threat. He even said that Sara could easily suppress them by leading the army," the Raiden Shogun remarked, turning her gaze to Kujo Sara.

At that moment, Kujo Sara felt the weight of the Shogun's expectations.

She lowered her head in shame. While the Shogunate had won several victories in the war, it was undeniable that they had failed to completely eliminate the resistance.
