"Girl, I have missed you soooo much! When are you coming over Trin?" Ruby whined incredulously loud over the video call.
Trinity could not stop beaming. It had been years since she last saw Ruby other than texting and remembering to call each other once in a while. The model was always busy, booking flights to different places for a runway show or some other type of contract. The last time they had met, Trinity was still together with Bryan and Ruby wasn't going to shut up about him.
"I heard you got married? What in the actual fuck, Trin? Did you suddenly lose your mind? What happened to Bryan? He seemed like a nice guy" She babbled on, applying layers of foundation over her already perfect face.
"It was never meant to be, Ruby. You of all people know that."
"Yeah, but still, he was so cute. I never imagined you in a million years would settle for some…. random dude… who is he again?" She asked, stepping away from her camera for a second, only to return with more containers of makeup in her hands.
"Daniel D'alore. DC's most wanted single man." Trinity replied sarcastically, a hint of disdain in her tone as she rolled her eyes.
"I think I've heard the name somewhere before but I don't know where. Hold on, let me look him up real quick."
Trinity waited for her best friend to grab her phone and search for the infamous billionaire before she got a simple "hmmph" from her.
"He's not bad." Ruby commented, still scrolling through pictures of Daniel. "I mean he's hot AND a billionaire? I'd say you got lucky buttttttt.." she stretched out the last word, knowing something was off, "is this what you really want hun? Blink twice if you need help."
Trinity blincked several times instantly.
"I knew it."
"It's short termed anyway. Soon I'll be a divorced twenty seven year old with much less opportunities and a longer list of scandals to her name. What more could I possibly have wished for?" Said Trinity.
"Come over, let's talk things out. I'll be in DC for a couple more weeks and I shouldn't not get to see you at least once. Elodie would be delighted to see you too."
"Elodie is in town? How come I never get updates on anything?"
"Girls' night out, tomorrow night by 8pm. You better be ready. I'll send you the address."
"Alright babe. I'll be there. I've missed you guys so much and I cannot wait." Trinity said finally before she waved her friend goodbye and blew kisses to her laptop's front camera. She closed the laptop and took a deep breath, still smiling from the aftereffects of her friend's contagious spirit. Ruby had always been the outgoing extrovert since their college days at Princeton University. The social butterfly and leader of their sorority club, the parties had been wild because of her.
Trinity laughed again as the forgotten memories of school came back to her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trinity walked down the stairs in red bottom heels and a minx scarf slipping down her shoulders, revealing her bare arms and back and the body tight silvery gown she wore. Her brown hair was tied up in a fluffy ponytail and her lips were glossed in thick red lipstick.
Rick, who was wearing a headphone and dancing shirtless with a mop stick he used as a mini microphone stopped abruptly from embarrassment when he saw her. He was gaping at the beautiful lady who looked like she was about to star in a classy 80s crime thriller and he might've as well been her mystery case.
"You look incredible." He said breathlessly as he slid the headphone down his neck.
Trinity smiled, taking in all that sweaty muscles and refraining from telling him he looked even hotter than she did. She decided tonight was going to be all about her.
"Are you trying to seduce me, Rick?" Trinity said, smirking flirtatiously at the man whose face had reddened instantly. He looked down at himself, as if suddenly reminded of his half nakedness. His glistened body wasn't making it any easier.
"I decided to take off my shirt cause of the heat." He explained.
Ruby didn't mind it at all, she was rather upset that she wouldn't get to witness a show from Rick-with-a-probably-big…..
"That's fine. Have all the fun you want. I also will be having a little fun out tonight. Make sure the doors are locked, might be out for the whole night."
Just then, the door slid open and Daniel walked in with ruffled hair and a half bottened shirt. Trinity looked at him shockingly and he simply stared at her when he saw her.
Trinity noticed how his eyes ran down her body from her cleavage to her thighs, and then darted towards shirtless Ricky.
"Well, looks like you finally found him useful for you." Daniel said, unperturbed.
"That's not what this is-" Trinity tried to counter his assumptions.
"Please, by all means, enjoy." Daniel said.
Rick took his shirt and the mop stick and excused himself quickly.
"Where have you been, anyway?"
"Are you going somewhere?" Daniel asked, eyes squinting suspiciously.
"You didn't answer my question."
"Where are you going?" It was like he wasn't even listening. He only stared at her in what looked to her like….lust.
Did she make him lust after her? She wanted to know deeply. Was the great Daniel D'alore finally attracted to his wife?
"I'm going out to meet friends."
"Is your "friends" some politician dude?"
Now he was starting to get on Trinity's nerves.
"Okay, you don't need to know who it is I'm hanging out with. Where have you been? You left without a word, and I couldn't know if to call the police or anything." Trinity's temper was rising, more because he looked like he wanted to place her on all fours than actually care enough to listen to her.
"Business trip. I only came to grab something and I won't be here by the time you return. Have fun, Trinity." He said and went up without another word.
He could try getting on her nerves but tonight, nobody, not even mister-long-dark-hair-in-his-face-all-the-time-with-beautiful-brown-eyes would ruin tonight for her.
She stepped out the door calmly, taking a deep breath of the bustling city's night air before taking the car Daniel had left for her to use.
