Leaving the police station, Zoran was completely disoriented.
I followed behind him as he walked, utterly lost and dejected, like a walking corpse. Passersby gave him strange looks, but he was oblivious to it all.
Back at the villa, facing the empty house, Zoran sat on the floor and wept uncontrollably for the first time.
I didn't quite understand. Was his behavior due to my sudden departure, or was it out of instinctive guilt and self-blame?
After all, he hated me so much, he despised me so much.
At two in the morning, Zoran walked into my room.
The room was pitch black, without a glimmer of light.
He just stood there in the doorway, motionless, as if time had stopped at that moment.
"Melody!"
His hoarse voice echoed in the air, tired and desolate.
"Stop messing around!"
"Come back!"
His voice choked up as he spoke.
"I know I was wrong. I'll pay for your medicine. I'll go with you to get treatment. But please don't leave!"
"What am I supposed to do if you're gone?!"
