Chapter 6

"Melody!"

He called out to me cautiously, covering his nose, yet still refusing to bend down and look at me.

My cold heart sank to the depths.

I truly wanted to know just how much he hated me, that upon seeing the blood splattered all over the floor and the body lying there, he didn't show even a shred of sympathy or concern.

"Stop pretending. This childish trick was enough the first time, why are you still keeping it up?"

As he spoke, he kicked me lightly, the disgust in his eyes painfully obvious.

Seeing that I still didn't react, he finally reached out to check my breathing.

But before he could get close, he was interrupted by Genevieve nearby.

"Zoran, I think I should leave. Melody probably doesn't welcome me here. I don't want to cause any more conflict between you two because of me."

Genevieve spoke while walking towards the door, a barely noticeable glint of satisfaction flashing in her eyes.
