Zoran's pure love got into a car accident on our wedding day and became a vegetable.
He blamed me for everything, froze my bank cards, and demanded I kneel in a chapel to repent.
Later, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer and begged him for some money to buy painkillers.
But he viciously humiliated me and even spread my medical records online.
"Playing the victim is Melody's specialty. How long do you think she'll keep up this act?!"
Overnight, I became a despised outcast that everyone wanted to attack.
Yet Zoran looked utterly pleased with himself.
"Genevieve, I've avenged you."
But what he didn't know was that his Genevieve was never actually in a vegetative state at all.
And as for me, I was about to fade away completely......
------
It marked the third day of my cyberbullying ordeal.
It's also the third day since I left this world, following him around in spirit form.
Unfortunately, Zoran remained oblivious.
At this moment, he's sitting in the living room, joking with his buddies, "This plan worked like a charm. Ever since the cyberbullying started, Melody hasn't dared to leave her house. It's been three whole days, and I haven't caught a glimpse of her!"
Zoran took a sip of tea as he spoke, his expression brimming with smug satisfaction, as if he's accomplished something truly remarkable.
"Zoran, you're a genius. If it weren't for her, Genevieve wouldn't have gotten into that car accident. Now she's finally getting a taste of her own medicine. She won't be causing any more trouble!"
"Exactly! If she hadn't shamelessly insisted on marrying you, Genevieve wouldn't have lost her mind and gone street racing on Christmas Eve, ending up in such a terrible crash."
"But... is that medical report of hers genuine?"
Someone asked curiously.
Zoran's lips curled into a contemptuous smirk.
"How could it be? She's such a good actress, faking a document would be child's play for her. Besides, good and evil must at last have their reward. Even if it were true, it's just payback for what she did to Genevieve." His rowdy friends burst into laughter, carrying on until dawn when they finally departed, leaving the vast mansion suddenly silent.
Zoran hung his head, seemingly lost in thought, then strode purposefully to my door.
"Melody!" he called out.
"How long are you going to play dead? If you knew it would come to this, why did you insist on marrying me in the first place? If it weren't for your stubborn desire to wed me, Genevieve wouldn't have recklessly gone street racing out of spite!"
"You ruined her so terribly, yet I've only given you the slightest punishment. Aren't you satisfied with that?!"
His words dripped with self-righteousness, as if I had truly committed some unforgivable sin.
Seeing no response from me, he took large strides to my door.
My heart leapt into my throat.
The corpse had been locked in the room for three days now. How I longed for him to open that door.
How I wished he could see what cancer had done to this insignificant person.
But alas, his hand had barely touched the doorknob when his phone rang.
"Mr. Ashford, Miss Warwick is awake!"
